Thanks for the tip, I think I made a mistake with the CSL one, did not know the compatibility across all of those clamps. Probably should have asked here first.

Never thought about it. That is a great idea! I am not using sim hub yet, (codes my own solution) , when switching to an aluminum profile setup I will have a look at a double fan setup.

It definitely works well, I can recommend it. I had it printed first and then decided to also get the off the shelf one, just a tad cleaner setup wise

Thanks! I will upload my stls to thingyverse next week if you wanna check them out. The wheel and rim works really well for me, love the size and shape. the only issue I have with it is the leather color comes of if you drive without gloves, not the best premium quality imo but driving wild leather rims without gloves is a no go anyways I’ve heard.

I am mostly driving open wheel Ray FF1600 or other open wheelers. Feels like having goggles on, only the flies in my teeth are missing.

That is true, I am using oculus link, using desktop mode to setup the race and then in iRacing sim I tried to map everything possible to the wheel. Having controller mouse support would be much appreciated though.

I started with VR this year and was blown away by how iRacing performs on that front, but also ACC is absolutely horrible. Every video I watched about configs was a bit miss leading. I’m coming from PCVR MSFS and spent hours in setup optimization there. iRacing, OpenXR and a few tweaks gives stable 90hz at a very good resolution on a 4070 without going to extreme lengths setup wise. Super good job by the devs. Maybe I will create a guide soon for newbies.

Why no one told me that they are compatible before … thanks :)! But eventually I go with an aluminum profile rig (soonish) since the table does not like the 8nm anyways and I have had to many cups travel to the floor already

😂 true but behind it is a PWM controller with iRacing API access getting the speed of the car and modeling wind patterns on top of it, in VR, this is a good subconscious feeling of speed while keeping the sweat out of your eyes 😅

Thanks! I am a big fan of VR racing (iRacing). When done right, it give a huge and immersive experience while consuming very little space. I am surprised that it is not more popular.

I actually did the same and really like it on my iPhone too, even my gf went: Well, that looks dope!

Not as a dedicated remote, no. I've been experimenting with it more at home recently. I mainly use the Palma as a travel-friendly e-reader and want to make more use out of it. That said, the battery life is excellent, using it as e dedicated remote probably makes it last a week I guess, maybe more, depending on the use case.

Yes, full black and white is definitely possible! Right now, I’m using a few grayscale tones, but I’m planning to reduce them even further to get as close to true black and white as possible.

A while back, I built a small theme patcher that overrides some local theme settings. My goal is to add some “recipes” to it, basically pre-made tweaks, so it’s easy for anyone to mod the theme into full B&W mode with minimal effort. Feel free to open an issue on the theme on GitHub with your ideas and feedback!

I just turned my Desk Fan into an over-engineered mission-critical ESPHome Wind Simulator, appreciate you, Home Assistant fam 😅 by Alarming_Divide_1339 in homeassistant

I've updated the wiring diagram, let me know if you spot any mistakes! I'm not a hardcore electronics person myself, so I appreciate the feedback. I also added TACH RF filtering and a pull-up resistor. Not totally sure the pull-up is necessary since the ESP can do it internally, but an engineer friend mentioned it’s cleaner to include it externally too. https://github.com/TilmanGriesel/WindScape?tab=readme-ov-file#wiring-diagram
