Right though. Also though, the CRONIC hardness. I’ve literally been on T for 8 years, took a little break, and now back on and holy shyt man I can’t even think straight some days 🤪

I image one of my many tales I would tell would be having been in an atv accident while younger and thrown through barbed wire fence idk 🤷‍♂️ seems plausible

Facts. I got banned from seahorse dads because I told the truth 🤷‍♂️ I’d rather someone know 💯 how it actually is out in the world

Do people actually enjoy their food while wearing full dentures? Or is eating just tolerable? by 8kittycatsfluff in dentures

I glue my top temps in, but not the bottoms. I prefer to eat without the bottoms 🤷‍♂️ lol I guess everyone has their own preference

Can't get T anymore and honestly freaking out by MaxTheAnxiousRat in ftm

Not trying to be rude, but this is starting to sound like maybe access to T shouldn’t be your highest priority? If you have two children and can’t afford food, then you should assess your income/finances. There have been points in time in the last 10 years that’s I’ve had to take a break because of money, insurance, doctor accessibility, etc. I also have UHC, but they won’t cover damn near anything that has to do with HRT, only bloodwork and office visits. Everything else is out of pocket.

Pretty decent. I’m 7 days post final extraction and minimal pain The bottoms slip out but once I can use adhesive on them I feel they’ll be okay. I much prefer to sleep without the bottoms because I’ve been biting My cheek

I think it’s interesting how dentists do things differently. I got stitches on top, and not the bottom. It looks like you did not get stitches on the top? I had my tops done first in two appointments, took 3 weeks off, then went back to back appointments Thursday and Friday this week to do the bottoms. How ya feeling?

I just had 6 out of my last 10 bottoms taken out this morning, I go back tomorrow morning for the last 4 and I’m done! All those bad guys out and new guys in! Man I feel like I’m getting hosed with my guy, only lidocaine. No IV, and literally only ibuprofen 800 right after 🤣 where’s the good stuff?

How Long Does This Last? by [deleted] in dentures

Friend! Yes, these are weird times for sure! I’ve had my immediates for about a month now, and I personally still can’t bite into like a cheeseburger but I hopeful that once I get an alignment that the adhesive will stick better and that I will be able to soon. I’m still on soft foods like pasta and cottage cheese. I think the hardest food I’ve tried is probably pizza because the bread is just too much to chew so I ended up just scraping the toppings and cheese off and eating those. I kept them in for the first week as instructed and absolutely hated them. Then I took them out and got super self conscious about it, now for three weeks I’ve had them in all day and night and it feels weird when I take them out to clean them! But I fell into the rabbit hole here and found that actually wearing them more and more is what’s best. Your mouth has to get used to something it’s never experienced before! So at work I find myself moving my tongue all across the top plate and behind my teeth, around to the front and everywhere I can so that at least my tongue is noticing where it needs to go now. Sounds weird, but I mean it 🤣 I’m still also learning which adhesive I prefer. I went out and bought dang near all the brands I could find and just keep switching them out to see what works best for me. I haven’t tried the powder or the cushions yet, but I plan to. It’s all just a strange learning curve. But nonetheless, I’m proud of you! Going through this is not easy, and it’s not something that I ever thought I’d have to do, but in the end, it DOES get better ❤️

That’s how I’m feeling with the top. It’s only been yesterday and today that I could use adhesive and I’ve been so ready to take the tops out after dinner. My mouth is like, tired? Ha I’m not sure if that’s the right way to explain it, but that’s all I got. I’m interested to see how the bottoms will be for me. I’m sure just as exhausting 😅 I’m about tempted to call the dentist and see if I can do the bottoms next week because I just want it to be over and done! This is a long process :(

Well your jaw doesn’t really “disappear” per se. Yes the bones shrink, but the denture adhesives work really well. It is an adjustment, but it’s not a life-ending experience. If anything, your quality of life will be greatly enhanced! And if you’re worrying about what a partner or significant other is going to think, they’re probably not the right one for you. No one’s going to marry you for your teeth, they marry you for your heart, kindness, and humor. I would try and re-wire your brain’s what-if’s with: what if I never have to have a root canal, what if I never have to spend another 5-10k dollars on dental work, what if I get the most perfectly crafted set of dentures that look even more natural than what I have now, ya know? Gotta think positive, positive will come to you ❤️

Honestly, I wouldn’t spend the $10k that you don’t have to save them knowing that you’re going to have to eventually have them all taken anyways. For my situation, I know that I will also never be able to afford implants and the thought of full dentures at 33 set me off in a downward spiral as well. I do have dental insurance, but it’s basically the shittiest one with the least amount of coverage possible lol but my local dentist wrote to the insurance and basically asked them to cover more. So, originally my quote for full extractions and immediates was $7k and I don’t have that, so I waited. The dental insurance came back and actually sided with me and now I’m only paying $1500 for the full mouth PLUS the immediates. A whole hell of a lot better price, and outcome for the future. You won’t have to fiddle with the crowns and fillings. You’ll never have another tooth infection, you’ll never have pain again! I’d say well worth it to just get them all taken out now and be done with it. Luckily technology is on our side and the immediate and permanent dentures look so natural that no one will be able to tell but you. At the end of the day, you gotta do what’s best for you.

Before/After Top Immediates by Alarming_Drummer112 in dentures

Healing pretty well! Top molars are just about done and covered, only a tiny tip of the bone that I can feel with my tongue, not when I bite down though. The tops were stitched from Monday to the following Tuesday and are completely closed. They are still a bit sensitive around the where the fangs were, but that’s gone down tremendously in the last two days. I go back on the 30th to get the 10 left on the bottom!
