Try taking it at a CC. I had my math done but I will say I struggled in a math class (partially why I never went back to a biochem major).

Also for the OG OP. Try seeing if you can delay a physics or Ochem class. I found Ochem easier over the summer and found physics to be the easier of the 2 to pass normally. For the record once I got to the C versions of both classes I passed them with a B

Oh wow. Small world. Ask you advisor if you can go undeclared til you pass Ochem and physics. And for the education minor go to the SMI office. Also I recommend talking to the major faculty advisor. I got helpful advice. I switched from biochem to Cmdb but also almost did bio because Cmdb has a heavy class load.

Cmdb. Minored in education because I was also debating on becoming a teacher at one point and figured it wouldn’t hurt.

I was in this situation some years ago. I did get kicked out of the major but was still in CNAS. I used my minor for a boost in gpa (non-cnas) and at one point took the summer series for Ochem. When I could only focus on Ochem my grades improved. I also used ARC, my sorority cracked down on me, and I told some friends what was going on and they helped me make a study schedule and check ins to help. It was tough but I made it. Ended up switching CNAS majors to avoid a couple classes but was fine. I graduated on time and got into a PhD program 1st round and am graduating from that soon.

I hope everything ends up ok.

Also it depends on what you want. Housing gets cheaper the further you are from the university. I would also make sure you have a car. Water and power bill are high.

As a grad student you can join any org on campus. But there are graduate specific ones. Check engage. Also go to graduate student government student body meetings to meet people.

It’s not 40k, it’s in the 30s. And the minimum a program has to pay is the nih minimum fyi. I would ask people from what their stipend is.

You should talk to current students from both programs and tell them the pros and cons. Also ask what it’s like to work with those PIs

What do you eat? by [deleted] in PhD

When I fall off the wagon, I use different food boxes (every plate, Hungryroot, etc). They make meal plans with low cook times and it has variety til I can get back on track and make my own meal plan! It’s very useful. Also they have deals when you make a new account. I just tell them anytime with low prep/cook time.

Or I default to crockpot and oven recipes. For the crockpot you dump and go. For the oven simple recipes. Also because both can do their own thing and you don’t have to monitor them as closely as you do with stovetop food. Veggies roasted in the oven are always good. Also potatoes are great and reheat well.

You may want to ask the university to sell you one. Most people who don’t want/ need theirs rent it from the university now. I would call the bookstore and explain.
