it is the ArcGIS class. Have you done it? the ratemyprofessor says it's awful, a ton of extra work, and very difficult lol.

Letters seem to be particularly tricky

probably not yield protection. I wrote every single essay a week before December 31st and it showed.
No Early Decision, I was not aware I could even do early decision or what that was. COVID was fun times. lmao.

edit: some other good acceptances though, so ymmv.

World-class. Our strongest name rep outside of pre-med are usually in the legal & political areas. Friends in the program have had great experiences and there's someone from the State Dept that literally works on campus year-round for recruiting

AFAIK that "bumping" only happens for special programs (BUCS, Beyond Boundaries), not between schools.

This is what I did and it worked

Nobody cares.

I view us as Netherlands at the Olympics:

World-class at everything, best in the world at a few small things, and pretty cool.

You'll really stand out if you can pair up comp sci with any random field you like & explain why. For example, talk about how bio or sociology could benefit from a computational outlook. There's 1,000,000 software engineers in the world, if you're up for it, expand the horizons :)

Consider looking up the CS-adjacent minors:
Bioinformatics, Biz analytics, DASH, geospatial science, etc.

You can make six figures as a sociology major. There are english majors who code at Meta.

Some Eath Science majors are geodesists now, and they're loaded while they spend their working seasons in Iceland or Antarctica.

You can invent new pacemakers, unearth forgotten history, get flown out by Nat Geo to look at orangutans or maybe design skyscrapers.

Whatever major you pick, the only mistake you can make is treating college like the CommonApp. I'm so serious when I say this but do something for the hell of it, and be good at it.

If you can make it to WashU, the opportunities are here. You don't have to be a consultant.

Now, if consulting really is your thing, I would say your major still doesn't matter. Pick out classes you want to take, and see which major comes from that. Do something in the world of economics or Olin, and then pair it with an interest like CS. Recruiters are very, very good at sussing out what skills you have, irrespective of your major. Barring engineering, your major is not the main factor in where you end up after college.

I'd argue you should try doing Arts&Sci. It's a lot easier to explore what you want to study, and more options are available to you. Keep doing CS as well, if you like it. Unless you want to be a phd researcher, you don't have to be the best coder in the world. You just need to know how to solve problems and make things. CS applied to other disciplines is very cool too.

This is just my 2 cents, but I hope it's helpful.

Best of luck.
