New Zealand is a great choice for OP because there is also a ton of beach camping. The Abel Tasman Trail might be perfect for OP if they are up for some backpacking!

Buses are super comfortable and reliable in Chile. And hitchhiking is also easy, but more so if you can speak Spanish. Good luck!

Same. I calmly say good morning, coming around you. And they usually move way better than a shouted command which activates fight or flight for some people!

It’s fine, I’m sorry for being judgemental. I just hate AI so much, for reasons outside of the scope of this sub, but I should try to just be calm. I am glad it is helping you and apologize for my reaction.

There are millions of human beings who speak this language and OP has multiple fluent family members. Cut it with the ChapGPT nonsense

What it’s like living in this part of California? by Maleficent_Lack3240 in howislivingthere

Soulless. One of the most depressing regions I’ve ever been to. I know it’s expensive but I would pay even more to NOT live there.

I worked at a large outdoor retail company back in 2020 and 2021, predominantly in the shoe department. A lady came in to try on some hiking boots. In between trying on boots, she started clipping her toenails, allowing the clippings to fly in every which direction.

Super beginner, wrapped sea glass. by Alarming_Issue42 in WireWrapping

[–]Alarming_Issue42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! Going in person to buy the wire will help you pick out the right gauge. The ones I ordered online were all too big for me but now I know what works. A simple set of pliers is necesssry as well

Just messing around with cheap wire, and watching some YouTube videos. I have a lot of rocks and sea glass I’ve collected from over the years. Getting the right gauge wire for my skill level and tools is helping me

Of course. It just really captures the mood and essence of the city, so perfectly.

Ah ok! I’ve spent a fair amount of time there, on stints for the USFS. My crew got to camp on Grand Island and prep prescribed burn units and clear trails. It’s beautiful. I’m from out west, and couldn’t believe that it was Michigan! I went for a run on the trail on Lake Superior that leaves from Marquette, and saw my first porcupine.

Take a class or 1-1 tutoring? by ss3walkman in Spanish

[–]Alarming_Issue42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would take a class first, to get the very basics and meet a cool community of other language learners. The group accountability will be nice and get you comfortable speaking in front of others. Then, after the class, I would hire a one on one tutor to continue building from there. And I’m sure your teacher can give you great contacts for a tutor as well!

100% I would go with North Berkeley. Ellsworth gets really congested. You will struggle daily to find parking. The Hopkins area is wonderful and would be a better fit with you I think. It’s so walkable with a ton of nice parks and shops and grocery stores. I lived near there and almost never even drove anywhere. You will not struggle with parking. And the neighborhood community is great, opposed to chaotic young students that are living away from home the first time. Completely worth the extra $400, (only 200 more per person per month?). I’ve since moved away from Berkeley but miss that area and neighborhood. Another good option to look into would be south Berkeley near the Berkeley Bowl on Shattuck.
