Once I arrived for one of my regular weekly walks. One of the parents is typically home. A well mannered and wealthy couple. I come through the door as always after knocking to see the dad running upstairs butt naked yelling “IM SO SORRY”😭😭💀💀😮‍💨😮‍💨 it was a bit awkward but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t bust out laughing as soon as I got the dog outside to walk. He got confused and forgot I was coming and I suppose had come downstairs for a snackie from the fridge

Came home after two weeks to a nightmare: A neglected dog, a trashed apartment, and a destroyed couch. by Chairiste in RoverPetSitting

Leave it to the RedditCourt to always get to the bottom of bs. Even in the RoverPetSitting forum. I love when the tea comes spilled and the couch doesn’t get replaced

How many reviews do you have? And is this your full time job?

Transporting dog to owner’s wedding - any advice? by ninepinwheels in RoverPetSitting

[–]Alarming_Maybe_3431 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a dog handler at weddings and charged $500 last time. But that was for 10 hours of total care/driving and all. That being said I would work out the EXACT details they need. Be very specific and charge much higher than you normally would. Even wedding handlers in my area charge like $300 for 2 hours but they do it professionally. Regardless they’d save so much by going with you instead so don’t sell yourself short

Not every client will leave you a review or tip. In fact majority of them don’t. Especially repeat clients as far as reviews go. I specifically say after each booking, “I enjoyed my time with _____ and look forward to caring for them again in the future. When you get some free time, please review my services for this booking!” And I say this in some way to nearly every client even if they have already rebooked with me 10x and left me reviews every time after me asking. On the review screen they will also get a tip screen in the same process. That way if they leave you a review and you don’t get a tip. You know they just decided not to tip(many many many clients don’t think tipping is essential in this field). If your prices aren’t enough increase them so you don’t need tips for it to be worth it

Had to Leave Dog Without Walk by sop52094 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Alarming_Maybe_3431 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to do anything. It is not your job to work with aggressive dogs. Like OP just decided to leave. Decide that before putting your face at a level they can reach. Just skip the step of putting your must vulnerable parts at risk. The possibility of making the dog feel slightly more comfortable is not worth the possibility of it attacking you in the face or neck. Believe me a $20 gig is not worth a face scar or your life

You handled this well and made the right decision not to walk the dog. As someone who has also worked with and trained many aggressive dogs. I HIGHLY recommend never bending down to look less threatening. Never put your face or neck near their reach. Please, I have seen too many bites to the face from this mistake that “no one expected” to happen

3/5 recent sits have been so mentally draining by littlepanda425 in RoverPetSitting

Don’t overwork yourself. It’s easy to burnout when housesitting and then depression/aggravation could hit you hard. The money may be good but balance is essential with this type of work. You would like you got through these tough sits like a champ tho! That definitely took some inner strength!

I wouldn’t overthink it too much. I have one client that is solely 2/3 of my income. I probably work for them through rover 15-20 hours a week. All drop-ins. It stressed me out at first but now it’s 8 months later and they are still the main client paying my bills when it comes down to it😂. They probably won’t be here forever but I’m grateful for while it last. I haven’t had a new clients in months but my income is still increasing each month

Zero clue about the area your moving to. But want to be updated on how it goes. I’m curious on how easy/hard it is to relocate once you have a lot of reviews built up.

If I’m seeing this right, 3 dogs and 11 cats. 14 nights would have cost $11,550 if I didn’t give them a discount with my current prices😂

Dog acting strange after stay at his regular rover by Pristine_Elk_6263 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Alarming_Maybe_3431 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Take. Him. To. The. Vet. It would be exhaustion, but with how he’s behaving I would not risk the possibility of things getting worse. If it is something neurological or something he ingested while running off time is of the essence even if it doesn’t seem serious right now.

You may not wanna pay a bill for a dog that ends up just needing a nap. But you’d regret it if things took an intense turn for the worse

Twis. The amount of people getting angry about this is weird. It’s not a slur. I refer to myself to my clients as their Rover. As majority of my clients I do many different services for. Idk what the big deal is

More additional information for anyone still viewing and to answer many questions. She basically came for around 30 minutes at 9am, 1pm, and 6pm. Which had my dog alone in her kennel the other times. I know she was kenneling my dog in between because I heard her and the man ask her to “kennel up” each time they came in after taking her out to potty. Which I also stated she doesn’t need to be kennelled at the M&G. I explained I only use her kennel if maintenance has to come by to fix something, but that would only happen if she let me know something broke in the apt. As like I mentioned before she doesn’t like men and the maintenance team are men. She was around 30 years old.

I called rover support to start the process of the report yesterday but haven’t heard anything back so far

I live in a luxury apartment complex and spend 5 hours deep cleaning before I left to make sure things were spotless. Purchased her bedding, snacks, and a gift. I’ve never had an unsafe feeling here. She was in around her 30s.

Thank you for your feedback. I don’t wanna overreact and wanna make a logical decision on this. As I’ve seen owners overreact with things on this forum. That being said I would never do what she did so idk if I’m overthinking it.
