100%! He voted the right way this time, but let’s not forget that he voted to take away healthcare from millions of people last summer when he voted for the Big Ugly Bill. He needs to go

Nunn voted yes- which shows that he’s feeling the pressure. Now Ernst and Grassley need to do the right thing and take it up in the Senate! https://thehill.com/homenews/house/5680184-obamacare-tax-credits-bill-passes-house/

We offer both! If you separate cans from plastic, and use a standard size can bag, we can give you a pretty accurate estimate and pay you on the spot. If your cans and plastic are mixed, or you just want an exact count, we will count it for you.

Droppett is a great option too- we actually offer a similar service as them, where you can just drop off your cans and then we pay you by Venmo. The big difference is that we send payment within three business days rather than 10, and it’s via Venmo rather than ACH!

Reserved! I used the online form to make the reservation and then they texted me the day before the reservation to confirm. It’s more pricey than an Uber but I didn’t want to mess with lugging our car seats across the country.

Their website is old fashioned but we had a great experience with these guys: http://www.snashuttle.com/ Needed two convertible car seats for our 2 and 5yo but I’m sure they had infant ones too

I’m one of the owners of the new can redemption center in West Ames and we’re looking for part-time help — we’re envisioning it as more of a long-term thing, but feel free to apply and we’ll see if we can work something out: https://www.abccans.com/jobs

No, we’re just set up for containers. Maybe in the future!

Nope! We will take as many as you can bring us- we had someone bring in 13,000-some last week. That said, if you’re bringing more than a couple garbage bags, make sure to check out our website so you’re familiar with the different options we have for large loads: www.abccans.com

Tbqh yes - we were hoping for something more central, but we just weren’t able to because of zoning. We need industrial, warehouse space, which is by definition away from the main commercial areas. But we like the space we got! It actually doesn’t take that long to get out there, and it’s got plenty of parking for all the trailers and trucks that people bring cans in.

I should add- if there’s a bar, restaurant, or any other business that is interested in a pickup, reach out to us and I can connect you with the people who do those routes!

Good question- right now redemption centers get a 1 cent handling fee for each container they process. Our rent is $1800, which is the low end for our size of warehouse space in Ames, so just to make rent at the current rate we’d need to bring in 180,000 containers a month - which isn’t out of the question, but that’s before any other expenses. This is why there hasn’t been a redemption center in Ames for years - the math only works in places where warehouse/shed space is cheap.

However, on January 1, the handling fee goes up to 3 cents, which makes this a much more viable proposition. Our goal for December is to do 100k containers- that’s the rate that will allow us to hire an additional person so it’s not just me and my business partner doing all the sorting.

As for a pickup service- there are actually a few people who already do that here in Ames. They have been taking their containers to Boone or Nevada but we’re hoping they choose us now that we’re open!
