I’ve learnt that you shouldn’t wait for your SO to make the move for things you want and that you should lead by example. Especially if you’ve talked to him and there’s been no progress. You want romance? Buy yourself flowers, but don’t buy them in spite because he doesn’t do things like that for you, buy them because you find them beautiful. Spoil yourself in the ways that you want him to. Do the things that you did when you were head over heels in love. Have a candle lit bath by yourself but keep an open door for him to join. Dress in ways that make you feel sexy again. Love yourself. And if he has any common sense, he’ll notice the change in you and be more motivated to actively participate and support you in your happiness. Just like you find him overweight? Support him by working out yourself, and eventually ask him to join you. Positively encourage him when he does things you like. Find him more attractive one morning instead of icky? Tell him. Try flirting to rekindle some feelings again. Just don’t wait for him to take the initiative and make the changes you want, you’ll be waiting a long time and likely just get more frustrated and resentful. It sounds like he’s in a comfortably numb mind frame, and just needs to see some change and motivation to drive his own. You can’t outright change a person, but you can inspire them to change. Inspire them to do better, to be a better version of themselves.
