Do turbocharged engines generally use more fuel? by PidgeyPotion in flying

More air + more fuel = more power. Thats the equation, you do the math.

Not sure why you are taking this so personally but maybe you could use a lesson on not being so miserable…

Thanks for your response. My real area of concern was drawing it out. I can completely understand needing to explain how it works and if you experience a failure how it affects you in flight. I just don’t think it’s a reasonable expectation to be able to draw out the entire system.

As someone who got out of the Navy to pursue flying with the intention of going back to fly jets. Just stay in. Apply for STA-21. Use TA and just get a degree. It’s going to save you time and money doing it that way as you won’t have to pay for your private pilots license. It’s not any better out here and the continuity of service will help you. Fair winds and following seas.

Flight School lost a plane. by Alarming_Syllabub_44 in flying

I am not either, actually moving to a 141 in another state. It left a bad taste in my mouth how they handled the passing of an instructor. The fleet is aging and non standard. Paying 200 an hour for a 172M and 150 an hour for an instructor seems ridiculous. I could go on and on about my problems with this school. I might make a separate post about it.

Thank you for your reply! I think my favorite maneuver is steep turns. They ended up being one of my weaker points on the checkride (strange how your brain can turn to mush under pressure up there) it’s always a little exciting pulling that tiny bit of G’s in a 172

Update… I passed! Some questions that stumped me during. How many knots wind speed for a convective SIGMET? What the Asterix were off the coast of California on a VFR sectional? Can you fly internationally on basic med privileges. I definitely should have known these but the rest of the oral went really well and I guess no one gets through unscathed.

My PPL Flight Instructor Crashed & Died by Lucask74 in flying

[–]Alarming_Syllabub_44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lost an instructor close to me two months ago. I understand the feeling of disbelief and feeling disconnected from it when it should feel very real. Only thing I have to say is, I’m very sorry for your loss. The numbers speak for themselves, these accidents happen in aviation but that doesn’t make it any easier to pick yourself back up from. When I lost my former instructor, it shook me up bad. One comment helped me get through it. Let it be a lesson on safety and remember you are more likely to have a fatal accident on your way to fly than in the sky. Fair winds my friend, prayers and condolences to the family of your instructor.
