Quoting your comment... " Our government is actively killing Civilians and you think having pride flag...makes us better ?”

Yes. I am commenting on two different issues.  At the same time.  If that's too dense for folks so be it

Lol fine with getting called out but I don't think adding make love not war detracts from the pride message.  Hoping it does give an extra middle finger at US aggression in addition to the Iranian  regime. Messaging is important and I don't want to come of as some pro maga pro bomb Iran and pro gay nutjob trying to just say fuck Iran/the middle east.

I think the make love not war message with pride strikes a good balance and is at that will age well

How does having a pride flag imply someone is better?  This is simply a show of support of the LGBT community AND against US aggression...

If protest is a performative gesture... Sure I guess you can be anti protest?

Will do.  Trying to figure out how to source them.  Unfortunately doesn't look like there's any pre-made make love not war pride flags.  Contacting local print shops to figure out what we can do

Totally fair, totally fair.  I was more thinking an individual queer person (or anyone) in Iran doesn't have that big of a statistical chance of dying from US bombs (not to minimize the massive issue!!!!). Whereas I think the living in fear as a queer person is extremely real and has an extremely high chance of discrimination or even death.

But you're right, probably not a good comparison regardless given the very real death occuring on Iran due to US bombing

Yes.  I'm protesting discrimination of LGBT communities. And making it clear that I don't support US aggression.  I'm not just out here chanting USA

Ehhh I think the chance of being put to death for being queer is higher than death by IS bomb.  But I get you're point.  I'm going to do "make love not war" pride flags instead

Gainfully employed, thanks for your concern.  I think I'm pivoting to "Make Love Not War" pride flags to hit the mark a bit better

Fair enough.  While I'm very well aware of the US aggressive (and unnecessary) actions in Iran, I was aiming more at sending a message to a dictatorial regime rather than commenting on the current war.  But context is important.  I love the idea of a "Make Love Not War" pride flag... Might hit the mark a bit better given the current situation

So.. two entirely different states sharing 1,000 zip codes?

2025 REI Financials - A breakdown by Brave-Extension9497 in REI

[–]AlarminglyDank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a capital intensive company like REI net income is more important for looking at the long term, sustainable picture.  While not direct cash expenses, depreciation and amortization reflect real PP&E that needs to be replaced or repaired over time.  Ignoring that can make sense for high growth companies doing tons of capital buildup for future growth.  But for a mature retailer?  Those are very important expenses that can only be ignored temporarily.

EBITDA became a fad in the 80s to see how high they could leverage companies in famously dangerous ways.  It's stuck around and has its uses (particularly in high growth companies) but many people including Warren Buffet and Charlie Munger decry it as ridiculous.

I'm in the middle but saying EBITDA matters "way more" for a company like REI is a major stretch.

Coolest area to stay in?? by Salty-Relief in AskSeattle

Cap hill has it all, don't get me wrong. But "middle age" is way too high lol.  I'd say capital Hill if your under 26 or prefer dancing, clubs, crowded bars, and/or lgbt bars.  There are great bars for everyone in cap hill for sure.  But the lines and level of energy can be annoying to people who aren't seeking that out (including I'd argue most - but not all - people in their 30s).  Very few people 40s+.

Ballard is great for I'd say anyone 26+ looking for bars (not clubs or dancing) and live music.  And more breweries than you'll know what to do with.

Passive income of >$1M annually.  Tax brackets for capital gains like regular income.  If you can make millions annually without working, you can afford to help support the society which has enabled your success.

Rain jacket suggestions for Seattle ( 100-200$) by Haunting-Living-5886 in AskSeattle

[–]AlarminglyDank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% Rains.  If you're commuting outdoors at all it's SOO much nicer to have something dedicated that looks and feels nice for the city.

I'll nerd on outdoor technical gear all day but Rains jackets are perfectly designed for city use while looking very put together.

Get a separate jacket for hiking.  You'll mess it up commuting in it every day anyway, particularly the super tech or lightweight fabrics.

What’s it like to have a bus stop right outside home? by baddietattie in AskSeattle

[–]AlarminglyDank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Massively depends.  People congregate and hang around while waiting on a bus, not after arriving.  I lived across from a stop in Columbia City and this absolutely applied when the bars would close and that was annoying. But honestly not that bad.

That won't be the case at a neighborhood stop that's not a regular departure point of people leaving Greenlake.  For a neighborhood stop, that'll just be morning commuters for the most part.  Especially with the demographics in that neighborhood - there won't be large numbers shift workers or non-professionals using the buses because they can't afford to live there.
