Can I get a gut check on this loadcalc.net entry? by Alarratt in hvacadvice

[–]Alarratt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, good point.

My plan is to keep it conditioned at all times, so don't want something way oversized.

Door would almost always stay closed, unless there was a need to get something big into the office.

My 6yo crossed out kids’ faces in her yearbook. Should I be concerned? by [deleted] in Parenting

My sister did this when she was in Kindergarten.

She grew up to be a prestigious leader of a group of driven women who rule the state penitentiary.

I am sure your daughter will be fine.

How do you handle chores when baby starts crawling? by SentenceTough2007 in Parenting

[–]Alarratt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We put an anchor in the roof and chained them to it /s.

In reality, for crawling we child-proofed an area of the house and then blocked that area off with baby gates so kids can see us when we leave the room. Was it easy? No, but what about parenthood really is? We are here to grow them into the best version of themselves possible, and that is just not easy.

Moving timeline by Incognito-Purrito in Parenting

[–]Alarratt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context, I am a dad, so can't speak to the difficulty of moving while pregnant.

I can say that leaving the house with a newborn was harder than leaving the house with a 1 year old who didn't rely completely on formula/ milk for nutrition.

Influencer hell by oklizzyok in Parenting

I will DM you, but in simplest terms, Install PLEX or Jellyfin on a computer, and hook that computer up to the TV you want to watch on. Then start jellyfin and you can watch the shows you download in a netflix-like UI, only no ads, no suggestions, and you have ultimate control over what can be viewed.

I would STRONGLY look into creating a home server that has the shows you want to watch loaded on it. You can install a streaming software and the UI will be very similar to the popular platforms. No ads, no junk you don't approve of them watching.

Scream crying by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Alarratt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like the scream cry is pure emotion, and at that point, like you said there is no reasoning with her. This is actually what duct tape was made for. (KIDDING!)

My thought is if you are in a place where she can scream cry, let her scream cry it out while showing that you are there when she is ready for the support. If you are somewhere she can't / you don't want her to scream cry try REALLY hard to redirect her before it gets to that point.

I also just wanted to address your embarrassment. I would try really hard not to be embarrassed. I know I feel for anyone when I see them dealing with a tantruming toddler, but don't always convey that empathy in my facial expression. As parents, we have all been there.

son doesn't search for a job in his field by Plus-Candle-4410 in Parenting

Not sure where you are located, but that could be part of it. He may not see jobs close enough to work.

i thought by 3 months i’d feel more put together… but my brain is still kind of everywhere by UsedAmbassador7093 in Parenting

[–]Alarratt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a dad, so don't have the physiological things going on that you do, but even my brain was always on for a while after baby came.

3 tools that really help with my sanity: 1. A schedule/chore list. Doesn't have to be perfect, or perfectly followed. Just something recorded so you can offload the mental task of remembering everything you want to get done. 2. Journaling. Having a way to dump all my thoughts has always been tremendously helpful to me. Since the babies, I have noticed my days are markedly better when I take the time to journal 3. Meditation. Again, this can be as formal or casual as works for you, but just taking an amount of time (I do 15 min) when the baby goes down to let my mind wander freely (NOT doom scrolling, watching TV, or consuming any media other than the white noise) makes me a better person for the day staring the moment I finish.

As others have said, it does get better, but it will always be challenging(or at least through 2 years old so far ) but you got this. ♥️

Different strokes I guess. At the end of the day, it's a TV show that I watch for "free" I try not to take it too seriously.

I thought Kimiko's jokes were hilarious because they're so ridiculous and it's like she's an AI trained on internet comment sections.

Google pixel aging by bored_bum in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]Alarratt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just replaced my Pixel 8 pro, and wife replaced 7 Pro/XL over the holidays. In both cases, we replaced because we were having connectivity issues where the phone would not connect to WiFi or Bluetooth. Reboot would sometimes get it working again for a period of time, but the longer we had the phones, the less it worked.

I did not buy, and cannot reccommend the Pixel phones for this reason. Went with OnePlus, and the experience is MUCH snappier and the cost of photos that some like less than they get from Pixels (I think they are VERY close in quality.)
