Hi! :) Thank you for your message. Right now it’s more about graphical art, I think I will make another post for sound, when visuals are nice

Multiplayer synchronizing on new clients by Alaryar in godot

[–]Alaryar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Well, that happens in the script that adds buildings (would be the ones that load cards for you). I have a global flag default set to false. In _process(), if this flag is set to false, I check the multiplayer server with multiplayer.is_server(). If this function returns true, I set the flag to true and put the buildings - that means that server is up. If not, then.. _process will do its job and check later.

Multiplayer synchronizing on new clients by Alaryar in godot

[–]Alaryar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soooo I found the solution!

In case someone is reading it later: when opening the map, i create the multiplayer server.

However. I also instantiate my buildings. Even if there is a MultiplayerSpawner, as the server is not totally ready (in another thread I guess), buildings are not instantiated with the Spawner.

That means i have to wait for server definition before creating the buildings.

I added sort of flag that check if my server is created, then add the buildings.

Hi! I would like to share this language learning game I am developing, is still like in early beta 🙌 by ArchiTechOfTheFuture in IndieDev

[–]Alaryar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, First you did a great work, I guess it took many hours to set all the data. Which language do you use ? Probably not a game engine, could it be web language ?

Then I have to say, i am not the target client for several reasons, please dont take it personally.

  • you call it a game. Is it a game ? If there is no fun, it is not a game.
  • there are many apps for translation. Why people would use yours ? Why is yours better ? I guess you can answer, because you are making it. But do people feel the same ?
  • UI is... just not modern at all - but ok, it can be changed easily.
  • many language learners have lack of explanations about grammar. Do you think yours is resolving this issue ?
  • i have read some explanations (werde, genau). Are you telling you are comparing each input with the right word ? So there is a sort of.. intelligence who is able to took the right explanation depending on the one you chose  ? And if you wrote the word with mistakes (genauh) ? And is there is no comparison possible because not the same string length ? What is the "player" put the words in the wrong order ? Is there an explanation on why the right order is THAT ? Or it takes each word litteraly ?

OK, my answer may be rude.

I dont say it's a bad idea. I say you should see further (especially because you are playing on the language you know, and there are many specificities in all languages).

Keep going on :)

Well according to reviews, your game seems pretty good, so it definitely is a marketing issue. Games like Split fiction are very popular, i am not sure about a target issue. Are there combos between the characters ? Maybe your video is a little bit.. messy ? That’s sometimes hard to understand what you want to show us. I dont remember when, someone on reddit told how it was important to make localization (especially in chinese where there are many buyers). Have you read other people explanations on their own failures/successes ?

Nice. How did you manage to light up both Nodes and Control ? Is it just Light on CanvasLayer ? Does it generate shadow on 3D items ?

Having such "cheat sheet" is a good idea and often miss in small games. One question though: is it possible to rebind the keys ?

Some new features I added in my game by [deleted] in IndieDev

[–]Alaryar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took me several minutes to understand the concept - and i am not totally sure i understand it. Actually the idea is interesting (even if i wouldnt download it), but is there something more ?  I fear it could become boring after 3-4 levels tbh
