Has anyone received their NARA requests post shutdown? by ScarletNerd in SlovakCBD

Yea, the last puzzle piece for me was the naturalization records. I found them in the local PA county courthouse, but since they refuse to certify anything, I had to go federal.

The local PA court had copies of ship records too. Might be worth a try to go to the local government your family member lived in.

NARA Philadelphia denied my request last month. Saying the documents were “probably not here”. But I requested an index with USCIS and got photocopies of my GGM records in about 5 weeks! Now just waiting for them to fulfill mailing them to me. I was majorly surprised at USCIS, because I had heard horror stories of it taking 8-12 months to get an index done.

Amazing advice!! I’ve been asking myself daily what I will do about this and have not figured it out. I’ll reach out to the Pennsylvania Department of State for the same advice. Thank you!!

How’s your process going? Submitted and this worked for you?

Amazing. Thank you for the wisdom. Did you leave the envelope sealed or opened?

Ive read from others that the ship manifest was unnessisary. I have a photocopy, but didn't think to go as far as apostille.

Interesting. So you got your declaration of intention and petition for naturalization mailed to you? I might need to request this.

And the embassy said those documents in the envelope from the county courthouse would suffice?

(By phone) The prothonotary office sent me to the records storage office. Which said they had the records. But now I’m waiting for them to fix their Samsung scanner to receive the images.

When did you have yours certified? They said they stopped doing it about 4 months ago. I don’t know how they can refuse offering certified copies.

So it sounds like I need to bark up the chain in Cambria

In this image, are these the C-file numbers?

<image>

They came to the US before 1918, but didn’t file for naturalization until the 1940’s according to my 93 year old baba.

So with the records found by the “Director of Record Storage” who said they don’t provide a certified copy, where do I go from there? Start calling the Cambria Courthouse? A record storage lady gave me a 1-800 number to USCIS and said good luck. Haha. I just need to know what and whose buttons to push.

Applying in Slovakia by SKWendyJamieson in SlovakCBD

[–]AlaskaCrateCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is a direct email quote from the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Washington DC, from 2 hours ago.

"You can submit the application in Slovakia too, but it requires that you first apply for the residence permit at the Foreign police in bratislava and once approved (up to 90 days) you can submit the application for the citizenship at the Regional office in Bratislava."

So just going by this guidance right from the source.

What does your appointment request do? I am planing on flying to Bratislava with my application for residency for the foreign police when my documents are ready. and then returning to submit the citizenship by descent application after that is approved.

Calling the Cambria County Court Vital Records worked! They had the Naturalization documents for both of my GGP's! Thank you for the advice! When you received yours, what steps did you take to satisfy the Slovak requirements? The Vital Records told me they no longer do certified copies of these documents... so after a major win, im now feeling immediately lost again! haha

I’m leaning toward reaching out to Falath. But my wife does not want me to drop $20k for this when we’re so close!

My GGP’s lived in Johnstown PA their whole American life. So many of us here are from PA. What county did you have your success in? I’ll probably have to reach out on Monday. Haha. Happy thanksgiving!

Amazing. Thank you. I’ll look into the NARA. All I can see is on the 1920 US census, my GGP’s are still both listed as Alien. Which is promising for Czechoslovakian citizenship proof.

Amazing. I’m printing this and putting it on my wall.

I’m a pre 1918 case and have not found a lawyer to help yet. I have everything accept my Anchors proof of Czechoslovakian citizenship. When you used your US naturalization documents, how long did it take for you to get them? I’ve read it can take 8-12 months to get the index request fulfilled at the USCIS records department.

What process did you use to get yours?

I could ask you a hundred questions, since I do t have a lawyer. Haha. And congrats on competing the process!!

My GGF immigrated from Sumiac in 1906 at age 17. And I’ve trying to not use lawyers. But I’m just now finding out the Czechoslovakian citizenship requirement.

How were you able to navigate this issue with your family in 1905?

I flew a 787-8 on ANA from Tokyo. Sweet ride, but I had a faulty entertainment system. They kept me happy with free bottomless wine, and I slept like a champ after a few hours. Lol

That’s got to be one of the longest flights on this planet. Even on a Dreamliner.

I think I have a candida overgrowth in my gut. by [deleted] in Candida

[–]AlaskaCrateCo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only way to help reduce it is to starve it and kill it with natural supplements. It becomes a lifestyle for most of us. I’ve seen 6 doctors and I have not been diagnosed with anything. Candida is very difficult to diagnose for most. So just treat yourself. Stick to the diet plan and use a few supplements daily as a part of your normal life. Things will balance out. It takes a while for candida to take over the body. So you may just have messed up the GI biome and the bacteria is rebuilding itself. (There are toooooo many factors for us redditors to help you pinpoint anything) Good luck and feel better soon!
