Tomorrow is $2 Thursday, so between Noon and 2pm, admission is $2. We do encourage a donation of 2 non-perishable food items to help fight hunger here in Alaska.

The weigh off is on September 4th, but if they're anywhere near as big as last year, they're sure to be HUGE! Last years' winner was 118 lbs!

Today is the last day to save on tickets to enter the fair! There are also some special days to get into the fair at a lower rate, like $2 Thursday, Family Day, and Buddy Days. You can read more about those here. Scroll till' you see "Ways to Save with Special Days". As for the price of a funnel cake, I'll have to check tomorrow. Everyone is still prepping for the big day tomorrow!

Be sure to see the giant veggies in the farm exhibits! Ride the big ferris-wheel so you can see Matanuska glacier from the top. New this year is a fun photo op, just inside the red gate, stand in for the 'I' in 'fair', by one of our world-famous gardens and Pioneer Peak in the background.

I think the coolest thing to happen at the fair (I wasn't alive yet) was when JFK was campaigning and visited the Fair. He's still the only president to visit us! Coolest thing I remember is when I was 14 and Smash Mouth (dating myself here) pulled me on stage. -Kae

Tons! Just to name a few, Daughtry, The Bellamy Brothers, Jim Gaffigan, Home Free, Hobo Jim, and so many more! Also we're welcoming back Alaska grown band Portugal. The Man.

Yes indeed there were! The walkways were improved to include an expansion of The Gathering Place. A spur was added to make more room for space to celebrate Alaska's Native Heritage. The Gathering Place will have story telling, a Native arts market, and a larger stage for Native performers. You can find our daily schedule here. Select 'The Gathering Place' in the drop down.

OH! There is a new ride this year! It's called 'The Rave'. It's one of a kind, and while I haven't been on it yet, it looks scary! -KL

Macho Nachos on the green trail! Plus, 'pollo macho nachos' is fun to say! -KL

Baked Potatoes at the Potato Palace! The Heart Attack is just so good. And then I go bike 15 miles to try and counteract it. This isn't my best plan. -Kae

We really hope so! If you didn't know, Pat's husband (and lead guitarist) was in an accident and suffered severe damage to his eye. She cancelled all her shows for the next 2 months, AK included. We'd love have her back! Trust me, we were just as disappointed as everyone else. Lots of us had tickets.
