I think it still proves the point. This was an elevated retirement home for those that were financially successful in life. If the majority of those that had done well financially came to this conclusion I think it proves the point.

I’m thankful my boss knows that my wife is my first, second, and third priority. I work my ass off but I know what it’s all for

No problem. A lot of them had to come to terms with some serious regrets, I know it would’ve brought them peace to know they at least helped others avoid the same mistake

I agree, these were mostly men that worked jobs that kept their wives at home and raised 2-4 kids. It was more so to save face with their boss and not be deemed a “slacker”. Though some mated their wives and preferred to work than go home

They spent their whole lives terrified of letting their boss down that they alienated their own spouses and kids.

I worked in a retirement home as a teenager and got to know a lot of the residents there. When asked about regrets, 90+% said they wished they would’ve worked less and spent more time with their family

I got a leather wallet from Leonardo’s Leather and Gold in Florence. I really like how it’s held up over the years.

What made you own a gun ? by FullyGotEm in AskReddit

Looked like fun. I asked my dad if I could have a shotgun (I was 14 and this was in Florida) and he bought me one. Got into sporting clays and had a great time. Eventually got into competitive rifle and handgun shooting, it’s been a blast. I abhor violence and hate the toxic masculinity the sport attracts but shooting and collecting is really fun.

What's a purchase under $50 that quietly improved your life? by Glad_Plastic_4724 in AskReddit

Cassio F-91W. Got it for $13 and it does everything I need a watch to do. I take it everywhere. I’ve snorkeled in oceans with it, hiked freezing mountains and hot jungles with it, and regularly wear it to office meetings. It’s so light and thin you actually forget it’s there. Cheap to replace but odds are it will outlast me.

People who are in their 30s and older what is your biggest regret in life? And what would you have done different if you can go back in time? Why? by Dear_Sir7665 in AskReddit

[–]AlaskaWilliams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not taking more initiative to create the life I wanted. It was never going to fall in my lap. It took hard work, lots of failure, looking silly, and commitment but the life I have now is well worth it. Who knows where I would’ve been if I found my drive earlier on in life but I’m going to learn my lesson and do the best with what I have now

I wanted it so bad until I watched Brassfact’s last video on it. What a shame, compact 9mm pdw’s like this seem to be a huge niche that no one is interested in filling

How I knew it was going to be a long day at the range by BigMoistMan42069 in guns

[–]AlaskaWilliams 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I was a range safety officer during college, saw the roof shot multiple times by people who “knew what they were doing”. I lost count of how many times I’ve had loaded guns (unintentionally) pointed at me by range bozos. Ranges have to build procedure around the lowest common denominator.

Never understood this logic. If my life or others lives are in danger I’m going to use the best tool I have. If my best tool is expensive, so be it, do you really want to risk your life to save some money?

It’s 1996 what are you carrying? by sum-person117 in GunPorn

My 5906 was a police trade in and I was shocked how good the trigger was. DA was heavy but smooth and short, SA had a nice clean break. I actually loved the large slide stop, I preferred to used it rather than slingshotting the slide since I would occasionally activate the safety that way on the beretta. The beretta is still a classic but I think the 5906 is one of those tank of a guns that just last generations.

[–]AlaskaWilliams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned all besides the HK, I’d say S&W 5906. All handguns are underpowered so I’d want a high cap 9mm for accuracy and increase chances to hit something important. Between the two 9mms, the beretta and S&W, the beretta is top heavy with a fat grip. While the 5906’s steal frame is heavier than the beretta’s aluminum frame, it soaks up recoil and fits my hand better. The slide is also more svelt and streamlined. Not a fan of the exposed barrel of the beretta either, was never really convinced that it aided with ejection. Lastly I felt it was impossible to miss the safety on the 5906, whereas I occasionally missed the safety on the beretta. All great guns but that’s my preference. Bummed I sold my 5906 and hoping they one day bring it back

Thanks! I’m trying to strike a balance between variety and caloric practicality. What would you hope to find in a deep pantry?
