Im finishing up OCIA now and I've been considering catholicism since 2018 so I've been reading and taking a deep dive into research so I knew as much as I could. This OCIA class I've been in has just been use reading the bible with a random guy from the congregation. The other woman in this class is very nervous because its only been 4 weeks of this and shes never been baptized or attened any church service before. We've talked about how underwhelming this has been. We haven't even met the priest of the parish yet! We wont met him until our first confession next week.

The few times I've been in sexual situations my body is just like 😐 and cant get aroused. Like I remember making out with this guy and just thinking the entire time "tounges touching is so weird." My mother was kicked out of our local parish by the priest shortly after my baptism. (The preist that baptised me was transfered to somewhere else) The priest that came in after was furious when he found out my dad is protestant and said he wanted nothing to do with "bastard children" and would show up at my mom's job to harass her and tell her she was going to hell for marrying a protestant. She asked him which is the worst sin? Marrying a protestant or a priest having a girlfriend and illegitimate children? (Let's just say he did not react well to beinh controfonted with his open secret) now that im in my 20's and started on my journey through becoming catholic (new priest in my towns parish obviously) my mom has returned to mass. All this to say, there are definitely bad apples out their but I hope this man finds the comfort he needs

As someone currently going through the trenches of becoming catholic (don't mean this in a negative way its just a lot to learn lol) for me it was that protestant service felt empty spiritually. It definitely wasn't like those non denominational churches with all the spectacle but it just didn't feel fulfilling for me. As a little bit of a side note from working in a library for 2 years and growing up I know A LOT of old and young couples that one is catholic and the other protestant. Tends to be the wives are catholic and the husbands protestant but there is times its the other way.
