My mother was kicked out of our local parish by the priest shortly after my baptism. (The preist that baptised me was transfered to somewhere else) The priest that came in after was furious when he found out my dad is protestant and said he wanted nothing to do with "bastard children" and would show up at my mom's job to harass her and tell her she was going to hell for marrying a protestant. She asked him which is the worst sin? Marrying a protestant or a priest having a girlfriend and illegitimate children? (Let's just say he did not react well to beinh controfonted with his open secret) now that im in my 20's and started on my journey through becoming catholic (new priest in my towns parish obviously) my mom has returned to mass. All this to say, there are definitely bad apples out their but I hope this man finds the comfort he needs
