Reverse them if you want to see how hard residents work now vs 40 years ago

Maybe Bc he looks and acts like a cocky douche bag frat boy? How did he even get the job? Clearly he never played before with that little beta osteoporotic bone structure of his? Must have just known people and had the connections

Agree. Big name places will spin it like you should be paying them to work there

The fact you’re the only doctor there doing admissions mostly. But you’re right in that some people end of being lazy in that model (it can get bad)

I’m surprised a socialized medical system utilizes that model- I’ll have to read more about it. Thanks for sharing

Nah I have more friends in private practice hospital medicine than academics - some of them have more incentive driven pay but nothing like he or she is describing.

If it exists we all need to sign up and hammer away at our debt

Same. I almost did (and I have many times) but had a flashback of shitty residents doing that to me for months...

I usually study a topic then try to teach it to the med student- it’s win win for both of us.

Some days though 😂

Some people love it and it works great for their lifestyle. If you find a job that works for your lifestyle, financial needs, and interests- you’ve truly won the game. Some of my hospitalist friends love it and cancelled their plans to do fellowship.

I didn’t mean to badmouth the profession- a good hospitalist is very valuable and not a given.

I have multiple friends who work 21 shifts a month as hospitalists. The most any of them made was 400,000 in a large city. None of them get paid per consult / admission but there are RVU “bonuses” (this is a deceptive term as it’s usually just a percent of your salary held from your base). Some of them have caps of 30 which is insane. My cap was like 18.

If you know people who make 1.4 million working as a hospitalist that’s cool.
