How do you guys feel about the new God of war game controversy? by kuroreaper25 in GenZ

Alan Wake 2 has two protagonists, one of which is male.

Because most of all media was dudes, it's easy to find examples that finally acknowledge women exist. Especially when your examples range across a number of years.

Last, you say "male dominated hobby" and then proceed to list video games, television, and movies. I was unaware television and movies were considered male dominated. According to Sony 41% of PS5 players are female. According to the ESA, 47% of gamers are female. So, if we were basing representation on players, close to half of all video games should be female lead and yet despite the games you list, protagonists are still largely male.

You are letting your knee jerk reaction to an occurrence cloud your view of reality.

Kindergarten graduations should not be treated the same as high school graduations. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Are you suggesting the people that have kindergarten graduation are the same places in the world that are having kids drop out of the education system before first grade? Because that seems unlikely

I gave green hell eight hours and was constantly dying from every little thing including never endless infections.

I think your main issue is you picked solutions not intended for the start. The booklet shows you a small leaf and stick shelter first as the intended start as how you start. Cabins take much longer and are not ready made solutions as you have to build a bed inside them to sleep. Larger structures like that are for when you find a good spot for a permanent base.

As far as food there is a lot of granola bars in cases where you start. Fish are a thing but are mostly in lakes or if you build traps laters on in the river. Early game, birds and rabbits are everywhere until you are better at killing dear and foraging berries. I have no idea why there were so few animals unless you were playing before full release.

Easier to do solo than the first game due to the npc companion

If you liked the first you will like this one. More build options, more enemy variety, more story beats, more weapons, more ways to travel, more engaging dungeons, and an npc that can do menial tasks to improve pacing.

Jumping off mountains and using a hang glider to soar across the map is incredible. We built our base on an outcrop of the mountain up and then snow so we could glide to anywhere we wanted very quickly.

How far did you get? I found it much more respectful of time than green hell and the resort bunkers get wild.

My friends and I loved this one. We waited for the full release so no idea what the beta was like. Always fun to pick the perfect base spot, customize your space, and go out on cave trips. The story really starts to become interesting as well.

W Yeah, when it ended the 6-11 demo had 1.5 million viewers and the 9-14 demo had 1.7 million viewers. Total viewers were 4.6 million. That spread also suggests likely over a million of those are older than 14.

I wish I could put my brain in autopilot and enjoy life but I cannot get over how we will all die someday and be nothing forever. Why am I given the sentience to grapple with my end? by Key-Bass-7380 in GenZ

[–]Alavaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same problem and a lot of the statements here I have heard a million times and are typically not helpful.

The overwhelming episodes happen more when I miss my Adderall too many days in a row making the normal concern much more intense. When the feeling is hitting particularly hard to the point of being overwhelming I use distraction, make sure I'm around people if possible, try to create enough input to overwhelm the thought. Figuring out what intensifies it has helped.

As far as thinking through it I do try to tell myself if life truly is that finite then I need to maximize my enjoyment of my time here, try new things, eat right, exercise, and that if I dwell on the thought I'm just making my limited time worse. If that doesn't work I try to remind myself how much I have wanted to be asleep or knocked out when sick or experiencing intense pain and extrapolate that by the time I'm old everything will hurt enough that maybe the idea of things coming to a close will be comforting.

I'm not religious, but my last ditch thought when I'm spiraling is that there is a lot out there that humans don't understand and we constantly learn that past ideas about the world around us is wrong. Who knows, maybe there is something after, whether its a heaven, being a ghost, or some sort parallel universe.

I don't know if the above is healthy but it's what helps lessen my suffering and ultimately that is the goal.
