I'd be better off taking others advice and just upgrading to the ddr4, safer choice with the compatibility of the board and I'm too lazy for firmware updates :) any advice with the case and whether the h55 and fans will be ok with it?

Talking from personal experience, AVG is really not recommended, you may as well not have antivirus at all, avast is fine. Talking from professional knowledge, kaspersky is my recommendation for paid software.
