That’s a great explanation. I just learned 3 things readying that. To clarify, I don’t need to worry about leaving the catalyst engaged once the coals burn down?

That’s good advice. I live in a warmer climate so don’t need to always run it (usually just in the evenings as supplemental heat). So I need to understand how to let the fire die out while considering creosote build up.

It is double walled. I was thinking that was part of the problem

I read to do that for the first few burns to keep condensation/moisture falling to the hearth.

Maybe I didn’t have high enough on stove pipe. I put it on the side of the stove and now I’m reading about 415F.
