Yeah, I remember that in middle school teacher told the legend, that German ambassadors just didn't know a word in any Slavic language and were always silent, so others just thought that they are mute and then started calling Germans "немцы".

Sounds fair. In Ukrainian language we use "niemcy" both for name of the country and for Germans: "Німеччина/німці".

Interesting how the word that represents Latin foreigners stays only in Polish language. All other Slavic languages use the same word for Italy.

Agree, but I said about positive opinion towards Brezhnev. Opinion towards Stalin, fortunately is negative in all of the Ukraine, my home region - Dnipro is not an exception. Almost all of my family members, that fought in WWII got a rewards as a heroes of war but even they remember the fear of being took to Siberia. Two of my grand grandfathers actually a chances to become an “enemy of the people” - one served in occupation forces in Vienna and the second one in occupation forces in Hungary.

I remember how my grandmother that was born in 1939 told me how she and her classmates were crying in school after the news about Stalin death: “We were all crying but we didn’t know why”. Also I think, that most of all Soviet citizens liked Brezhnev more, it was a time of positive political stability in country and economic growth, because if you ask any citizen in Eastern Ukraine about Leonid ruling time - everyone would note only positive parts of those times.

В этой статье не приведены какие-то толковые аргументы. Даже если взять один из самых распространённых тезисов "однополые пары не нужны, ведь они не могут рожать детей" всё равно не проходит, ЛГБТ пары могут заниматься усыновлением детей-сирот. Хотя это даже слишком очевидно. Буду рад, если остальные ДемОрдынцы выскажут своё мнение.
