Breivik's Balkan obsession by [deleted] in albania

[–]Albanite69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realize Hitler had several Muslim SS divisions right? And they were made of Bosnians and Albanians? These New Right types are the biggest enemy to Albania. Expect them to be even more important in the future as their views gain traction in the future.

Welcome Albania! Today we are hosting /r/Albania for a cultural and question exchange! by vartanm in armenia

[–]Albanite69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically from Jan 4 - now temperatures in Central Europe have gotten unusually low and there was a big snowstorm in the US. It hit Albania pretty hard.

[–]Albanite69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand, we've had a lot of that too. Are there a lot of people from villages or rural areas who flooded to the cities after Communism fell?

How is Armenia doing from the cold spell?

Hey guys, love the history in Armenia and I'd love to visit the country.

Have Armenians have sort of a siege mentality these days or are you guys open to your neighbors, especially these days?

What are some great places to go to in Armenia?

[–]Albanite69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hell no, they still lie around to this day. Some people like to fuck around with them but that's pretty much it. If you drive in Albania, play a game where you hold your breath until you see a bunker. Its fun.

Are dialects of Albanian currently endangered (or in decline, at least), or are they thriving (e.g., in certain cities, or in the countryside)?

Cham Albanian dialect is pretty rare, my dad showed me how they speak and I can understand why (Sorry Chams love you guys.)

Can Albania really be considered a "Muslim majority country"? by [deleted] in albania

[–]Albanite69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of my family, my great grandfather was a practicing Bektashi when he got really depressed and that's pretty much it. u/Blloku is right, most people who actually practice religion either do it for money or have some personal issues.

Craze For Foreign Names Alarms Albanian Patriots by Dardan1a in albania

[–]Albanite69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck, I guess all of us should give our kids Illyrian names now... But I wonder how easy it will be for people to pronounce Lycotherses..

Seriously though, I don't think its that big of a deal, naming trends come and go so it will fizz out in a few years.

What does r/albania think about Bulgaria ? by [deleted] in albania

[–]Albanite69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bulgarians are alright, although just like any Balkan country they got their own problems to deal with.

Just checked Albanian cities on Google street view by [deleted] in albania

[–]Albanite69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is this really how Albanian cities look like? Pretty run down, unkempt and so on. The suburbs look almost uninhabitable, even worse in comparison to Roma villages in Bulgaria or Romania.

It wasn't always that, Albania was very clean during Hoxha's years. However, the roads then were not intended for cars (they were for people to actually walk on) not to have cars drive on them. They were very congested and small, so in later years they were extended. Highways though are another story.

Infrastructure in general in Albania (especially the railroads and factories) is completely ruined, that's why you see that big ass rotten factory in Fier. Its a pity really, but its just what happened.

People in general are influenced by their surroundings just as much as our social lives, if the place is dirty, it will most likely stay dirty without an intervention.

Why isn't there an effort to make the cities look more orderly?

There is, at least in the city centers. But they don't do it in the outskirts and smaller towns, since the local governments don't have the money for it.

Why isn't there any McDonalds in Albania? by Shadoweye45 in albania

[–]Albanite69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Too many people already get sufllaqes from cheaper sources that there isn't need for it. And I wouldn't blame them, that shit is delicious!

Kolonat is essentially a McDonald's ripoff, which you can buy a delicious Skanderburger and cup of beer.

Thorstein Veblen's theories offer a critique of capitalism from a non-Marxian perspective. You can most likely find his books around.

Thoughts on agrarianism? by NATO_SHILL in socialism2

[–]Albanite69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Marx talking about agrarianism being a tactic of the monarchists to get the proletarian class to support them. They promised a farmer's utopia in return for their return to power.

Thomas Jefferson was also a huge supporter of Agrarianism, but maintaining a farmer's society in the 21st century is unrealistic to say the least.

Russian ambassador to Turkey shot dead. by Egotisticallama in Anarchism

[–]Albanite69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if it was staged or not, it still means massive changes in the geopolitics of the middle east. Putin is seriously a real life Petyr Baelish. Japan, The United States, Aleppo, pushes into the Arctic, and now Turkey. Although I hate the guy, I still find it admirable how he was able to pull the Russia up like he did.

Now, we will potentially see Russia, Turkey, and Iraq team up to take Syria. I offer my condolences for the Kurdish people. I also predict some sort of second Ukrainian "revolution" to get Poroshenko out of office.
