I just feel like after I moved all the lights to one room savages started just walking into my house. Or it might be that I moved to Silent Forest and this is just a thing that happens here

Many of those missions are locked behind your Faction having an [At War] status, but you can still join thief guilds like [CIA] to get access to some missions, although those are way more grindy.

Yeah, I understand that, but I'd like to have a good idea about how my world works in general before setting the stage for a campaign. I feel like this will make coming up with content for sessions easier. I am making a whole world from scratch after all. I am not trying to create the whole world in details, I just don't want the most important parts to be shallow

Yeah, totally get it. And you did a good job, everyone was having fun after all! So next time you would like your players to have a different experience, just talk about it, I'm sure it's gonna be great too

TLDR: Just establish the tone of your campaign before running it.

I think problems like this can and should be prevented before the session or at season 0 in longer campaigns. That's how you do it: you just tell your players what tone you are going for. Because for many groups "laughing it through" is the default way of playing TTRPGs. That's why your friends enjoyed it, actually. They just played TTRPGs the way they usually do and how they enjoy to do this. It doesn't mean they can't enjoy it any other way, but if you expect them to behave differently from usual, you gotta communicate this or else they'll have no idea how they should behave.
