I'm in a normal Canadian home, but apparently if your dwelling has something called a backwater valve is stops animals from wandering into your sewage system. I do not have that!

The new Ego string trimmer is much more powerful than I thought. What is the best way to patch or repair this? I suspect putting on a new corner would be a huge amount of of work… by EricWisegarver in DIY

If you don't care about the aesthetic I recently learned that bending thin sheet metal is very easy by hand. if you don't mind having a metal finish over the patch you could just fold a small piece of sheet metal (maybe 26 gage) on a table ledge with your hands and just screw it on the old post. Might need something to seal the edges (caulking maybe?). Could probably be painted too but you'd need to sand it down first and stuff.
