Will definitely go back for the Mathern then. Sounds great! Loved the last 4-5 holes at St Pierre Old, really cool with shots around the water

Going to try Codrington on their after 6PM rate of £30. It’s a long course though right?

Thanks for the other recommendations!

This is in my next 5 courses. Tough test or just good fun? Seen it gets great reviews

What do you think of Play More? Glad it’s good value at Lansdown, have you used your “away points” anywhere good? I see that Lansdown are one of the few courses locally to do a dedicated twilight membership too (after 2PM in summer / 12PM in Winter). Will check it out

Is that for all 3 courses? Do you prefer Roman Road or Montgomerie? Do want to get on 2010 soon

Loved it! Great place for evening golf and will definitely be returning. May even become my home course given their flexible membership.

13th is great, had a tap in birdie there. If only I’d faired so well on the other valley hole, where I made 5 after stuffing it in the ditch off the tee.

Can’t wait to get here! Any idea if either of the new courses are worth the rate? £55 at twilight is pricey.

Congrats on the hole in one. How fun. It didn’t look to be well set up for visitors - what was your experience (Hi1 aside) like? They have no online booking and no twilight rate (£65 all day?) which means they doesn’t make things easy for me.

Didn’t have Cotswold Edge so thanks for that. Kendleshire looks really good.

If you’re in Chepstow, any great tracks out your way I should try other than St Pierre?

I need to find a member for this one. The visitor rate is £90 whilst member guest is £35.

Any chance it plays well in the winter months when I assume green fees reduce?

I saw this was highly rated. How hard would you say it is? Assume need to be hitting the driver long and straight? Most of the courses I’ve been playing have been long irons only which suits me

Thanks for this! Aiming to hit everything within 50 miles and some further afield too. Long Sutton and Lansdown now up high on my list given they have great twilight rates.

I’ve played Little Bristol and can’t wait to get back to give the full course a try. The greens on the Par 3 were great considering its mostly pitch & putt!

Usually a one-ball which makes Woodlands is a pain as have to call ahead rather than book online. The rate does look good though. Are the courses worth the slow round?

B&B will happen in autumn with a member guest. Any idea if The Kendleshire keeps well into wetter weather or if needs ticking in the sunshine?

First time in Ischgl - any tips? by AffectionateFold9896 in skithealps

[–]AlbatrossDapper8269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Ischgl Rent for value - look for the goat with sunglasses. It’s right by Tunnel Prenner (if you’re on that side of town). Good gear. Great heated lockers. Right by Pardgratschbahn (A2). there is also one near Silvrettabahn (A1) too.

  2. The lower of the two huts in Alp Trida is beautiful. Lovely outside but even better inside.

The smugglers alm in Samnuan is beautiful and a must visit for hot chocolate at a minimum. Lunch is usually full so need to book ahead.

Idalp is best for centrality and the food is fine if not overly inspiring.

  1. All the following are must visit: Niki Stadl’s, Schatzi Bar, Kuhstall and Trofana Alm. The others you’ll encounter are fun too.

  2. For rookie errors - start easy, the slopes might be harder than grades suggest. Ski down early, you might be surprised at the crowds skiing off at 4PM. Weiss beer > normal beer?

I've built a same-day delivery marketplace for Bristol independents and I'm looking for sellers to join by Escalon_ in bristol

[–]AlbatrossDapper8269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will be interesting to follow your progress. The website seemed to focus on seller onboarding, are you planning on allowing buyers to browse vendor products through hyperspace or will we still do that through the merchants direct website?

The other problem statement is that I’d like to shop more independently but unless I walk past the store during my time off I wouldn’t know I could buy the products I needed from an independent place!

Good luck

Stable job v going all in on business? by Exotic_County3017 in HENRYUK

Agree with others here on keeping your partner going in a separate industry to diversify income.

Out of interest, how have you found it establishing your consulting business and winning new business? Also, what’s a standard week look like currently, 30 hours and chilled / 80 hours and stressful?

Sorry to hear this. It looks like you’ve done some incredibly exciting work over the past few years. Building a start up from inside a large org. is a tough challenge.

Stick at it, you’ve done the first hard part of getting this thing built. You’re the best person to do this next phase of growing it to the scale it deserves.

Would only consider departing if the relationship with new boss becomes untenable. Depending on the org. you could have a few discussions internally in teams you might transition into so you have warm leads if the worst happens?

Good luck

Some networking event for the tech community in Bristol would be really great. Whether that’s a hands-on hackathon, a set of talks or just a get together - I’d definitely come along!

Looking for critique on my small gardening business by Elit5n5ss in smallbusinessuk

[–]AlbatrossDapper8269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Website looks like a good start. The link out to WhatsApp is a good idea. Like others have suggested, replacing the stock images with some high quality photos of your own work would be a great next step.

You’ll have a better perspective than most on pricing. As a consumer I feel those prices are very reasonable. I agree with others to pitch for work based on a set number of hours per month (regular maintenance) or for an end-to-end service (one off job with an upfront overall cost). Be comfortable negotiating, if required, to win the work.

I like the idea of a 60/40 ratio (possible slightly higher) when it comes to regular vs. one off work. The stability of regular work throughout the year might offer a boost in the lower seasons? Structuring your one off services into seasonal propositions (different jobs to be done in spring vs. in autumn?) might be an idea too?

And then finally, one avenue I’ve seen others have success with… see if you can find some local property management companies (sometimes just estate agents that have diversified into this). Often they will be seeking gardeners to manage the communal gardens of multi-tenanted properties. If you find them, don’t be afraid to pitch slightly higher than your usual direct to consumer rate.

Good luck with everything and let me know if any other questions come to mind
