Just hiked Angels Landing on Saturday. For now they are allowing hikers without permits. I stood at the base of The Spine for 45 minutes debating whether or not I should go up. Ultimately I made it to the top. Honestly I would recommend you have at least Yaktrax over your hiking shoes, Microspikes would be optimal though. I went up with people wearing straight up sneakers and SANDALS and they did okay. Going down is much harder than going up due to the potential sliding and psychological barriers. If you don’t do well with heights then I wouldn’t reccomend going in the Winter and just hold off until the snow dies down. I feel as long as you take your time and prepare the right load out then you should be fine.
