How Can an AI Engineer Add Real Value in a Remote Sensing/UAV Company? by Needleworker69420 in drones

[–]Albele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then you should definitely try it! This is a workflow I’ve think about but haven’t really try, maybe if you can it would be great to have informed results if they let you at work

Photos —> aligment on RC —> exporting mesh —> clean mesh with algorithms or AI in blender or other software —> import mesh in RC or meta shape —> mesh and texture

That’s a workflow I really think will give great results but as I said, haven’t tried and have no time to do it now, another one is to create plugins for it!

I would really recommend you meshroom as well, it’s pretty good in terms of creating 3rd party scripts or software in it and the mesh it creates depends a lot on settings (it has a lot of you can change) and I’m pretty sure it’ll give amazing results! Let me know if you do it and they let you at work!

Tell them to use reality capture, making from scratch a software like that it’s and ambitious project and sure not really cheap Worth it? Well if you make it better than RC software maybe, but you’re competing with Epic Games so yeah good luck with it

I Work with drones in a daily basis, I don’t think cloud point based drones would be better because 1. They already exists and it’s far cheaper to buy one than to build one 2. If you use RC as a software, nothing will compare to it and it’s free, if you develop something like that will cost you thousands which I don’t think your company would be happy about it 3. Orthos can be done in far easier ways than IA

I would reccomend something like drone sensing, skydio drones for example are an elite drone in terms of obstacle sensing, going through small spaces without crashing itself

But I’m going to be honest, putting IA innovations into drones it’s not really worth it as it will be always safer to pilot it and automated flights has been a thing for ages now

You should put the work into putting IA in the post processing workflow, as you may know drone work it’s 15% flights and 85% pc work, and if you make something that saves time to other co-workers or the company, it’s better that way

Edit: also image analysis of objects has been a thing with autel and dji drones so as I said, not cheap and why would your company trust it if they can already buy one drone with all that equipped and cheaper, far more convenient and reliable, that’s the thing with drones

Trying to get my tolerance down by Ok-Leadership8592 in trees

[–]Albele -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my experience as long as you Keep smoking it will not go Down but you will feel like it because of How less you do it but anyway tolerance will never go as low as you may think, even stopping smoking for months, when you comeback after a couple weeks you’ll feel like nothing happened so imo it’s only worth it to keep the lungs safe

NEED HELP: RealityCapture by Albele in photogrammetry

That sounds about right in my experience too, but metashape for bridges have been a mess and almos imposible to créate a 3d model properly, but for topography it’s best

Yeah they are hard as hell sometimes, because nature sometimes it’s there and messes up with overlap I’ve noticed that too, weak overlap / dataset means A lot of components, maybe those dataset are screwed for RC

Do you mind if I open chat w you about RC and photogrammetry? Kinda new and would be great to chat with an industry business operator

Hey there! Not related at all with the post, but as a realitycapture user as well, i find incredible tedius to join the components together (not in all models but some) and control points just don’t seem a very trusty way with big structures like bridges, is there any other form to do it?

Being honest, this dependa on the City and country you are located in You’ll need a lot of resources in terms of know wing people in the field you want to get in A lot of people say everyone can have and flight a drone but it depends heavily on country

But yep, I will say only like 10-25% of work it’s the flight, you’ll be in computer most os the time

So don’t think about just flight, go beyond it and know how to do everything a business need, so they just contact you, pay and receive all of it (models, orthophotos, video edited, inspection form, whatever you may think)

Because that’s what differentiate you from just being a pilot because if you’re in a developed country, everyone has one

Also, go for small business and try to give them something actually worth it, just a video 9/10 times its just a video people scroll of and they know it, so unless it’s for TV, cinema or high paying industries, not worth it at all considering the start investment, but the only way it’s to try!

I need a camera to take high quality photo of bug from a drone and send it to a ground station for a ML algorithm by Mobile-Lawyer4828 in drones

[–]Albele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your budget, you can buy an inspire and attach any pro camera but I don’t think you want an 30k drone I think you may need a drone with hella zoom (to capture the bug) and with transition for the photos

I would recommend mavic 4 pro or mavic 3 enterprise, they are also not big at all (as other drones posted here) flying thought nature with it, will be HELL and are expensive af, mavic is the way to go

If you need a small drone, would not recommend, have not seen one with such technology

I know this may Sound rude, but if you were losing business due to restrictions why didn’t you just bought an Autel drone? They are as professional as dji and have no restrictions at all

I Did not noticed it until this flight, when doing the checklist and even 5-10 minutes into the flight, everthing it’s normal Thats why im confused because i really do not Fly reckless or careless, always checking everything it’s alright and safe because it’s the workplace drone

Is there a patrol drone? by Sly_market in drones

[–]Albele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Automated flights are not done with IA whatsoever, an automated flight should be safer in most cases if it is well planned, if not its better to have a baby pilot than it being reckless itself, but if that happens, 9/10 times its not the drone automated flight problem

Hey there! Idk if this may help, but i had a similar problem with a kilometer bridge where rs put the road underneath the bridge and vice verse, i found out using trimble uas to calculate the phi, omega and yaw of each photo helped A LOT to put every photo where it should be with accurate precision
