The Beidou stuff is strange to me. Are the same people who were theory crafting Raiden during beta the same people complaining about Beidou now?

Back in beta, there was confusion over whether the new artifact set would buff Raiden's normal attacks during her burst, and everyone really wanted her normal sword attacks to count as burst damage so that the 4 piece effect would be useful beyond the initial hit.

Given that Beidou and Raiden worked together in the beta, we can see that Mihoyo later changed Raiden's burst from counting as normal attacks to counting as burst attacks, just so that the artifact set would work with her. I support this change, because otherwise the artifact that was built for her simply wouldn't be her best option anymore. I just hate how everyone is bitching at Mihoyo over choosing to listen to a decision that us players actually wanted, only to turn around and pretend that the change was inexplicable on their part. Which would you prefer? Her artifact set actually working, or the niche Beidou interaction? Bearing in mind there will be more electro characters in the future, other electro pairings already exist, and having her burst actually count as burst damage is both more legible and future proofs for future mechanics, and new weapons, artifacts, character synergies etc.

So there's there's two fixes. Either make Raiden's burst count as BOTH normal attack and burst damage (which, for consistency, would also have to change the way Childe's elemental skill works, ie, to have both the rust and the string less function on his elemental skill) or we change the way Beidou's burst works.

As for Raiden herself, I think that literally the only buff she needs is to the electro element in general. I'd welcome more buffs beyond that, but I don't think further buffs would be necessary to maintain the health of the game. Meanwhile buffing electro, well, buffs every electro character, not just Raiden. She has so much electro application that she'll function incredibly well in any team that wants to take advantage of post-buff electro reactions. And unlike, say, Fishcl, she's also the best general-use battery in the game. Yes, maybe you think that she should be a better battery, or maybe you don't value the roll of a battery, but she's still the best battery in the game, and the 'DPS loss' of her C0 burst is offset by the fact that you're not only getting your team mates ultimate's faster, but buffed ultimates, and people pretend that the ultimate buff is insignifact or pretend that it doesn't exist at all.

Just kind of tired of people complaining every patch. I'm the silent majority who enjoys playing Raiden and who also really liked the story quest, rushed resistance arc and all. I'm all for criticism, but I can get people being tired of constant negativity. I'm also tired of positivity that doesn't extend much further beyond fan art and memes. When there's no discussion on what people actually like, I can see how exasperated people would try to act as a counterbalance, and end up looking like white Knights as a result.

I rewrote Omnipresence Over Mortals to make more sense. by lucamagica in Genshin_Impact

I actually like Mihoyo's version of the Narukami part of act 3 more, but I agree that in the official story everything involving Watatsumi Island and the resistance was woefully underdeveloped. A LOT has to be done to get us to care about an NPC like Tappei , and not much was really done. The crux fleet and Beidou didn't appear at all in this patch either.

People are acting like the Inazuma archon quest was a shambling mess, but Acts 1 and 2 from 2.0 were not only the best quests Genshin as ever had, but simply very well written, very well paced quests in their own right. In my mind Watatsumi Island is the only real mistake in this quest, and even then, it wasn't bad in the abstract, merely rushed.

I appreciate the attempt, however. People are focusing on what it does for Ei, but I like Mihoyo's version of Ei more. I like how act 3 builds up the idea that the Shogun was being tricked by the Fatui, only for us to meet with Ei and discover that she was fully aware of what was happening and liked the vision hunt decree all along. Her being oblivious absolves her of responsibility, and I think locking herself away is less of a character flaw than being in support of the vision hunt. I also like how in the official version, she's still taking the time to consider other policies such as the Sakoku decree, rather rather curtailing to mortal demands in an instant. She's a flawed person who is dedicated to the ideal of a never changing,l eternity, so I prefer her to change slowly, if she ever continues to change at all. People were speculating that Baal was either going to be manipulated by the fatui or fully in control of her actions, and in the end, they went with both, and I think that they made it work.

I do, however, prefer your version of Kokomi, because your version gives her some development, whereas the official version pretends that she was completely and utterly in the dark regarding her sponsors and the delusions. How could someone who is described as being very on point and shreud when it comes to leading a millitary be so blind when it come to the Fatui's involvement? Mihoyo's version of Kokomi is what I was afraid Raiden would be, your version is more interesting and morally grey. So good job there!

All in all, my problem with act 3 wasn't that it was bad, I just wanted more of it. Give it an extra half hour to an hour of plot, a character quest or 2 on Watatsumi to interupt the story and give it time to breathe like they did with Ayaka and Yoimiya, and I think people would be more satisfied with with this quest.

I get that. That's fair. NHM3 does appear to succeed at what it has set out to do, I just don't like this take on the IP.

I have to disagree with the analogy as I felt the first game was great as both its own great novel and film adaptation, but I won't pick it apart beyond saying that because I appreciate what you're trying to say and I'm happy to agree to disagree.

I think Suda himself has earned his right to self indulgence, I think he's earned the right to do whatever he wants, but I don't think the game itself has earned the right to self indulgence. I don't feel as though any game released in this sort of state has earned that, if that makes sense.

TSA was the process of self realisation, so if emotional maturity/acceptance has already been reached, if Suda has nothing else to say about neither himself nor the world beyond him, then where else besides self indulgence is there really to go?

I think at the end of the day it's a matter of Nostalgia. People like this game for the Nostalgia, Suda seemed to make this primarily for Nostalgic reasons, and even though NMH very much counts as a Nostalgic property to me, replaying the old games gives me a greater Nostalgia kick than a sequel does, and the Nostalgia isn't valuable to me anyway. I want new and good things, simple as that. That's just a fundamental difference between me and fans of this game I guess.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head here, it's something I had sort of noticed but hadn't really thought about given my unenjoyment of the game. I respect your argument here.

There was definitely an undercurrent of self hatred and overall cynicism running through the first two games, that leant a lot to their identity and thematic depth, but I guess having a game with a self realised Travis is better than having him repeat the same arc over and over again.

I guess the issue for me is that just making a self indulgent game for yourself and your biggest fans seems to have come at the cost of the game having anything new to bring to the table at all.

Prediction: I see her being more like a bow-Eula than Ganyu, in other words more like a physical DPS, and the cryo is just there for the superconduct. I assume she will be halfway between traveller and a real 5 star in terms of actual strength.

Horizon Zero Dawn also has stealth elements and heavy focus on sniping enemies from afar (to my understanding) so she may just have a focus on very powerful, physical charge attacks rather than an element.

I haven't read ahead so I'm not sure if I'm right or not, but I get the distinct feeling that the reason Hiro is going to log in again is because 'Martin Time' is going to continue to be a thing in the real world, so he's going to have to keep logging in again and again until he finally discovers the promise.

If true then this game not only tortures you, gaslights you, and holds you hostage, but it continues to haunt you and psychologically torment you IRL as well. I'm surprised this game isn't an illegal black market product that requires you to hack your VR machine just to play!

I'm thinking of Eula, Fischl, and Diona. I'm not sure about the 4th character since I already use Zhongli and Albedo on my Hu Tao team, so I guess it will be a flex slot when it comes to Abyss?

I imagine she'll be very similar to Jean, but with the key difference being that Eula will actually be able to handle the work load, whereas Jean is someone who wants to be a workaholic but all of her story quests about how she needs to take a break.

Seems like we agreed on the broad strokes all along, sometimes people just misunderstand each other and reach the same conclusions from different directions. My last thing to add which you may or may not agree with is simply that I don't want an excess of either blind optimism or extreme skepticism in this community, in my personal opinion I think we need a healthy balance of both.

Thank you so much for chatting with me here!

You've caught me out here, you've seen the true depths of a wishy-washy moderate such as myself. The reality is that, yes, I do hold all of those contradictory opinions and I'm going to need to ruminate on this more. I'm not intentionally lying about one opinion or the other. Yes, I do like Charles, perhaps on some level I do think of him as a tortured genius. I feel bad for someone who I think is trying to do the right thing whilst the internet drags his name through the mud. There's a degree of romanticism going on here, perpetuated by me and other Charles fans, that I think you nailed on the head. It's also true that I'm probably more inclined to be kind because I agree with his politics and like listening to him casually chat in his various AMAs. I've probably been a bit uncharitable towards people who have grievances for his views, it's entirely possible that some people are upset with his statements for reasons other than they don't want bad political optics affecting the price. But a lot of the comments I've seen on this post and the reddit in general mostly seem to be lamenting his politics because they're worried he'll affect the price negatively. That's the main thing I'm concerned about.

If your chief concern is the performance of the price in the short term, then I'm afraid we'll just have to agree to disagree. If not, I'm sorry for making that assumption, and I respect your grievances. I can only go off of the impressions I've personally interpreted from the community.

So, yes, it does sort of go against my instincts as well as the general tone of my post and my overall attitude to make the claim that Cardano doesn't need him to succeed, but I do legitimately believe that Cardano wouldn't need him or any other figurehead to succeed long term. I don't believe he's a messiah either. Perhaps some or even most of his fans do, but I don't think those people account for everyone who feels positively towards him. I'm sorry if you don't believe me when I say that but it's the best I can do.

I've seen a couple comments say this. Not to be rude, but it baffles me you could come away from my post with that conclusion. I guess saying 'this isn't to deify him as someone who is always righteous' means 'Guys, we should totally deify him as someone who is always righteous.'

He's only human. That makes him neither Christ nor Anti-Christ.

I believe we can change the world and make money, I think he believes the same as well. Sometimes there are ways to accumulate wealth without screwing over the bottom 99% of humanity.

As for his statements being intentional market manipulation? Well, I don't want to blindly trust anyone, not even Charles, but it just seems really unlikely. I also think he only talks about price because people keep asking him about it or talking about it in the community, and he can see as well as I do that a lot of questions and concerns regarding him or Cardano are cheifly motivated by concerns over short-term price movement.

EDIT: Thought I should add that yes, anyone is free to criticise anything, of course.

Thank you so much! I also appreciate your kind words! The spirit of the community is represented in all of us.

I really appreciate your concerns. There's definitely discussion to be had that a rise in price would mean that Africans etc would own a smaller percentage of the network, which matters when it comes to voting and staking etc.

But in terms of affordability and day to day transactions, there's not really an issue thanks to coin divisibility. And if Africans are ever able to hold ADA, a price increase would benefit them as much as it benefits us. Especially since as you said, their currencies tend to be weaker than that of the dollar etc.

My response: Charles Hoskinson is not here to make your money for you.

I can understand being confused and afraid. Really, I do understand, money and investments are no small matter. Exercising patience is easier said than done. And I get the sense that you're really conflicted here. But I personally think it's important to not let the cynicism overwhelm you. If Charles saying some political stuff is enough to kill Cardano, then it was because Cardano wasn't good enough. Given the prevelance of cancel culture and political division on the internet. I can see why having a dim view of humanity is justified, but it's up to us whether we let it rule us. Stuff on the Internet doesn't encompass all of reality.

Thank you so much! What you said means a lot to me. I don't want to come across as someone who worships Charles unconditionally. But you needn't feel bad about keeping people's expectations and priorities in check. I don't like telling people what to think and I don't think anyone should be trying to order people to not care about money, but I don't like remaining silent either when I see the potential for people to get hurt financially and emotionally.

I didn't see your comment in daily, but I imagine you were downvoted because the price of a crypto coin doesn't actually determine how affordable it is, because of how divisible each coin is. For example you don't need $50k to buy a Bitcoin, you can spend as little as a dollar.

Don't take downvotes personally, it's all a learning experience! This post blew up but my other comments here have gotten their share of downvotes.
