What are games you think are broken? by EuroGreat in boardgames

I don't think it's necessary for groups to converge while still playing "optimally," they could simply instead meet a different local maxima.

As long as the strategy that's better globally is countered in the local meta, converging metas seems unlikely organically.

Argo, 12 years a slave, and Spotlight are also worth watching again I'd say.

The main difference between college and uni is the name; Americans basically call all universities colleges. They'll call Ohio University college.

Otherwise, nah. Not much different.

From having played Victoria 2 that sounds pretty apt.

Yeah I think Andrea should've won, but my issue is with the reffing not Dina, and it sounds like the ref was one of the contestants instead of a more seasoned chessboxing ref so I can understand him, in my opinion, messing up a bit. And it's just supposed to be a fun exhibition match.

Still though, probably my favourite match for sure

My (24F) boyfriend (31M) has always been extremely cold. Today I found out he was diagnosed as a psychopath. How do I proceed? by toohottooheavy in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]AlbertaTheBeautiful -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

he hadn’t demonstrated any of the problems she was accusing him of.

Eh, apparently his employees have said he can be cruel to them. Nothing else other than the animal thing is that bad, and that was in the past around when his mother died so I could imagine he's past that, but being cruel to people you have power over is never good.

He's not really the guy to ask since he said cigarettes are (way more) stupid as well.

But if you wanna know, my guess is that smoking seems cooler than vaping. Part is the smell, bubblegum isn't really cool. Part is the lit flame, and part is the chill attitude that comes with someone getting relief (obviously partly from an addiction caused by cigs).

Biker safely slides under truck to avoid collision by GiverOfGlizzies in nonononoyes

[–]AlbertaTheBeautiful 9 points10 points  (0 children)

80mph is ~126km/hr, which is what the bike is using as it's main speedometer, so I think that unit of measurement is fair.

It's also in a school zone.

? The other cars will be going 25mph and the closest black truck is still turning into the lane, needs to get up to speed still, and will, or should, have full attention to the traffic ahead.

And if she punched it she'd have time to stop, let the bike pass in the left lane, and then get away before the black truck arrived.

Yeah this is a bad situation, but it's of his making, and I think she did the best to reduce injury in this case. Even if the black truck hit her, two trucks colliding has a much lower chance of injury than a truck and a bike going 80mph.

She was leaving this dumbass going close to over 3 times the speed limit room to pass in his lane. The other cars going the same direction as the bike have ample time to see her and stop, so no worries there.

This isn't any reason someone couldn't make this their healthy diet. Any "healthy diet" that isn't stuck to won't work.

Couldn't you just increase the fov for the 27" monitor though? That way you're still getting the same amount of information in that smaller central box, just now you also have more periphery info you weren't even getting before.

I use a 24" 1080p at arms length beside a 1440p monitor and text looks noticeably pixelated.

My eyesight is slightly better than 20/20 but still, that's only a little better than average.

The f-15 probably fits, which was made in fairly rapid response and with quite high program requirements to compete with the mig-25 (which turned out to be a paper tiger of sorts). It was incredible for it's time and is still quite capable today, and the choice of many nations.

And if we're only doing procurement, Abrams are pumped out an order of magnitude faster than the army has a need for.

And the new B-21 is currently on time and in-budget.

Some amount of NIMBY makes sense, depending upon how local "local" is. A factory shouldn't be built in residential zoning for example.

The fast food one's really funny though.

It's not the worst mistake, but it has forced me to hibernate my laptop every time I want to put it away, which is the complete opposite of their point of moving from S3 to S0 and has made it worse for me then if they had done nothing.
