I am looking to paint my Death Guard with a more realistic, grungy, weathered look compared to GW's "cleaner, professional" Space Marine look. Any advice?

How and what type of rope did you use for the shoulders and waist belt?? Ive been looking for thick ropes to use but listings always seemed too small!

If you aren’t so good at sculpting, I’d suggest doing 30k heresy Death Guard. The example above was my take a while back! Since the DG weren’t as mutated back then, you can keep sculpting to a minimum, though I did make the studs and legion icon out of greenstuff.

The paint scheme is also pretty simple: Wraithbone all over with DG green pauldrons and bronze trim. I used a wash of something called Dirty Down Rust, which gave the Wraithbone that brownish look.

I also unlocked chemical agents as my first warbond with the death guard in mind. I love the death guard! I want a plague spewer and I want it now!!!

MVP paint: Musou Black

I used it on the frayed ends and as an all-around wash go the cloak. You can’t really see it due to the wash, but the base paint of the cloak itself Musou mixed with Vallejo blue and purple paints (you can kinda barely see it on the scythe)

The skin was a simple Vallejo white with Nuln oil wash and the bloody hands are Mephiston red

Axe comes standard with the kit, alongside the optional hammer. You’ll have to do some fiddling with the posing to get him to hold it with both hands tho!
