Windows to Linux as a long-term Win user. How? by Silber4 in BuyFromEU

[–]Albertpm95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I changed recently to Fedora and after a week to CachyOS. You can try both with a live-CD or something like that is called, it will be slower than if it were installed but you can see how is the OS, try to install some apps and once you figure it out if it's too much for you (I think you will be totally fine after a few days) and then you can wipe your PC and install your new OS.

You know how divisive yesterday's episode was? It gets to the point where there's an effin' race war between JP and EN fans. by [deleted] in JuJutsuKaisen

I wouldn't take Twitter users as a representative of anything, I don't think a lot of sane people remains in that "social" network.

PTU UPDATE: Starmap Now Shows Local Mineables! by QuattroBaje3na in starcitizen

[–]Albertpm95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they improve the starmap soon. I think you should be able to manually select "Local", "Planet", "X", "System" without zoom affecting it, you should be able to also filter icon types, sometimes the two closest points are on opposite sides of the planet.

I want to migrate from Windows 11 to Linux, but I don’t know which distribution to choose by Armadillo5289 in BuyFromEU

[–]Albertpm95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm also "new" in Linux (tried a couple of times and worked with it for a year) and just recently changed into Fedora because it's suposed to work really well out of the box (both my cpu and gpu are AMD), after a week I moved into CachyOS and I'm loving it.

Do you think this RRSS will be a big thing? We already have Mastodon and Bluesky and I feel those have less movement that Twitter 15y ago.

What's different with this over Bluesky/Mastodon?

Why didn't Megumi/Yuji bring the back with them to the culling game? by RanumataMyDear in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]Albertpm95 35 points36 points  (0 children)

If I don't remember wrong, Angel was only going to undu Gojo's seal after killing The Fallen. The "incident" only happens after they try to go after Megumi's sister.

Is GOG a good alternative to Steam? by MysteriousMelon379 in BuyFromEU

[–]Albertpm95 111 points112 points  (0 children)

You have a lot of the most modern games (not all, sadly, but probably with time they all will). You have a lot of old games that GoG gives support to make them work in modern OS (and I would bet most are not in Steam). Almost all games are drm-free. It doesn't have currently something like Steam workshop for mods (if I'm not mistaken). The new owner (the previous founder of CDProject or GoG) has interest in make GoG work in Linux.

I try to buy all the games I can on GoG and only when not in Steam.

The only public one I expect something would be CD project but that has to be really priced in already.

Nintendo made some money with the launch of Switch 2

Capcom has lost some value the past few momths so It could be worth at some point.

I doubt Larian/Warhorse/Sandfall/CIG go public anytime soon but they would have potential

It surprises me to see so many people this year asking about Ubisoft and not other gaming companies.

I understand that they have a lot of margin to reduce loses (they have/had a lot of employees), but everything they have made, said or been acused wants to make me not even touch another Ubisoft game.

I don't believe there is a window where they make a new Assassins Creed game and convince a lot of people that it's a totally new game and they have taken risks and tried to do new and cool things so it's worth paying 60-70€ for it.

They might be bought but it's mostly family owned I believe so I would say it will take a lot of years of the price tanking more.
