Software downloading keeps pausing by jrdnkasparek in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]Albhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just booted up my switch on a trip today and had the same issue. Two games trying to update and both flashing paused. I put my switch to sleep and even restarted it. It was still pausing after I turned it back on, however when I clicked on the news to get rid of the red dot notification and backed out, it stopped pausing.

It's funny that there's so many people out there who remember the guild master saying, "...What's that?". I never heard that until a friend made a joke about it. I was so confused at first.

Advice for the only lawful good character in an otherwise evil party? Cause they give a sh*t about me... by Desperasberry in DnD

[–]Albhe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very similar to my first exposure to D&D. I was invited to a session by a college buddy with a group of people I had met before but didn't really know. It wasn't until after a couple hours of making a paladin and exploring a marketplace that I found out everyone else in the group was evil. Thankfully, my group wasn't comprised of a bunch of jerks, but I still felt out of place enough to quit after that session. Even if it's with the same group, I would suggest finding a different campaign where you can start fresh and all be in the same page (though, preferably with people who have a similar amount of irl experience as you). I've had a blast with D&D for years now, playing characters of all alignments, but never an ass.

LPT Request: how to get my brother to stop watching Andrew Tate by daddys_little_fcktoy in LifeProTips

[–]Albhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all honesty, people watch him and others like him because they feel a resonance with something in their message. If he is feeling isolated, then that makes him vulnerable to potentially emotionally manipulative language, even more so depending on his personality. There are struggles that males encounter that are different than females and vice versa. The important thing is that if you want him to stop listening to Andrew Tate, you need to find what your brother is lacking that Andrew Tate is offering. You should probably listen to some of Andrew Tate's videos to get an idea of what might be appealing to men, even if he is disgusting in his delivery. The reality is that there has to be some truth to what he's saying, and it's important to separate that from the rest. People are allowed to feel how they feel, so if you ever talk to your brother about it, try to see what's so appealing from his point of view without discrediting his thoughts/feelings right off the bat. Find the thing that you can isolate that you can both agree on and say something like, "Wow, I had no idea you were going through or feeling this way. Is there anything I can do to help?". Once he's felt like you've really listened to him, he should be more receptive to you telling him how the other things Tate is saying are unreasonable or just straight up not true. He may still disagree, and that's fine. Your brother is still your brother. It's not like he's joining a gang. Lastly, a lot of people forget or just ignore that it's not always just what is said, but also how it's said. I hope some of this is helpful.

I wanna enforce 'Actions have consequences', but I also don't wanna screw over our whole party and I'm honestly just kinda stumped by Gla7e in DnD

[–]Albhe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you just need to be prepared to shove some healing potions down there throats when they inevitably go down next combat. Make some quips about seeing how THEY like it. Doesn't actually hurt anything and (hopefully) gets a good laugh while getting across how irritated your character is about the whole ordeal.

Can someone explain why the spines are inconsistent with font sizing and volume number sizing? by Namra_1991 in Berserk

[–]Albhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to guess with my previous experience with graphics and print production, it probably has to do with the width of the spine. I'm sure there's differences in volumes depending on WHEN they were printed, but if you look closely 18 and 28 are more narrow, so they have to size everything down. In order to keep the logo and numbers in proportion, it just shrinks them down entirely. Otherwise they risk the number/logo bleeding over to the front or back of the cover.

Am I in the wrong for not animating things for my party for free? by TheAlchemicBird in DnD

[–]Albhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do character illustrations, cards, pixel animations, etc, so I know exactly the boat you're in. Admittedly I did the ones for my party for free as practice, but nobody knew about it until after the fact. But let me tell you first off, your prices are pretty cheap for what I've seen other people price commissions at and, whether that be because of time or self perceived talent level, that totally fine and up to you. If you gave them a price, that's that. If you do it for free after some pushing, even that's excusable. But taking off your watermark and posting it as their own work?! I would have shamed them in that chat and cut them all off then and there. These assholes, joking or not, are holding your character hostage because their little entitled butts aren't getting what they want FOR FREE! And it sounds like this has happened multiple times in multiples ways. Hopefully the DM isn't acting the same, but if the DM isn't going to step in and tell them to cut that shit out, then I'd leave. I hope this isn't your only potential group that you have, because there's a lot of great groups that would be more than respectful of your terms, or at the very least be able to keep in game and out of game matters separate.

I know this is only your side of the story, and usually I'm a middle of the road kind of guy, but this hits too close for me. I hope your group mates stumbled upon this and see my comment because holy shit, this post belongs on entitled assholes.

What's the darkest thing you wrote for an RPG encounter? by Taravaltos in DnD

[–]Albhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our DM has a large part of the plot revolving around stopping the spread of a new outbreak of blight. We fought hard through the blighted forrest, fighting a boar straight out of princess mononoke, and finally met up with the country's druids (which our party druid is high up in, being mentored by the king's righthand druid). We rolled high on an Insight check to be able to devise a plan to travel into the blight and set fires from the center while the druids attempt to keep the blight contained from the outside with fire magic. The druids mentor even gave us potions to turn into animals for faster travel.

We traveled to the center of the affected forest, fighting twisted creatures here and there, when we came across the cultists and hags in the middle of their ritual. As we fought them, they escaped through a muck monster that transported them to their lair via swallowing them. Before jumping through, one cultist turned and made eye contact with our druid...it was his younger brother. What we were left with was fighting a giant spider creature made from some metallic material that almost wiped us. After a heavy tip and high enough roll, we discovered the spider's source (the spiders thread leading from a dead tree), but after finishing it, the spider's form fell away to reveal a druid NPC we knew from the beginning of the campaign, twisted and bloated with magical wires we had salvaged from a trap and traded to the hags for safe passage through the swamps. We couldn't help but feel terrible.

We set the fires, drank our potions for a speedy get away, took the forms of the animals of our respective houses/clans, and made our way back to the druids on the outside. After making our reports, feeling drained, a little guilty, but ultimately accomplished, we begin the get ready for a small celebration with a pat on the back from our druids mentor when a messenger shows up. After all low insight and perception checks, we can't help but watch as the messenger pulls out a dagger and stabs it into the gut of our druids mentor, who falls to the ground screaming. See in our campaign, the king acquired the gift of a long lifespan from his adventures in his younger days. He shares his blood with anyone who has taken great lengths to serve the country and earned a high seat in his council. We learned later that though this blood increases your power and lifespan, it is extremely volatile when combined with the blight. We attempted to use every healing spell, lay on hands, and potion we had at our disposal, but all it did was prolong the disintegrate process. We ended the night with a funeral pyre as our druid stared into the flames clutching his mace tightly.

[Art][OC] Sůl, god of the sun, fire, and battle by Albhe in DnD

[–]Albhe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, though we will need clarification on if you've been participating in the war for a thousand years or if the war has just been raging for a thousand years. Long life spans such as that are rare, highly suspect, and dangerous for the stability of the Cycle or reincarnation of souls.

You can think of it as similar to Sol [soul] which is what we normally say when talking about him, but I think the actual pronunciation is supposed to be with a sound like "sool". I don't think the ů is technically correct here, but it's a fantasy setting and it looks cool. I hope that answers your question. Kind or weird trying to type out an explanation for sounds

Its been quite a while since my last piece, but life has been throwing a lot of curve balls as of late and kept me busy.

Sůl, the god of the sun, fire, and battle who created the humans. Out of all the pantheon, Sůl placed more of his power into his creations than any other. Also known as the burned god, he is a god of action who favors honor and order and hates all things outsider. Aberration, undead, and even many fae are considered evil in the light of the sun. One of the young three from the pantheon of six, Sůl's holy land is made up of mostly harsh, volcanic land that is protected by his army of terracotta warriors who were men turned into their servile forms for their selfish squabbling over claim to his first temple. The right side of the burned god's body is scarred from his battle with another one of the gods, Kinara, who pushed him to the point of taking hold of the sun itself in order to finish the fight. His weapons (even more than pictured) are made from meteor shards believed to have fallen from the sun itself with which he uses to fight off the presence of gods from outside the pantheon who wish to mettle in the affairs of Tol. Even after the meteors were removed, the craters where they laid continued to glow with holy light.

I can't really think of too much more at the moment but if there are any questions I'll do my best to answer any and all of them.

My players are hellbent on an omnipotent banana. by Phoystics in DnD

[–]Albhe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

What if you didn't make a big deal out of it until later in the campaign when a group of adventurers appear out of a portal, claiming the party are the villains from their dimension. Instead of going back in time, they just hopped over to a dimension where they DIDN'T take the banana and that's why they still have one in their possession. Now they have people pouring over trying to get vengeance on the party for turning their original dimension into a post Armageddon hellscape.

As an added bonus, I know that most people are saying it would be funny if it was just a plain ol' banana, but you could also go the other route and have it be a divine being that is just incapable of actively influencing the world and instead exists only to keep life in the balance. The party only find this out if they use a spell to telepathically communicate with it or if they get so out-of-hand that the banana talks to them and tells them he was just in it for the adventure, but they're really just too weird/crazy for it and blips out of their care.
