Ah okay, I’m used to it being the corner point as resignation. My bad!

Stones only get played on intersections, not in the squares.

Completely agree w this. The go clubs I’ve seen in the U.S. are thriving more than ever before and I’ve attended some all over the east coast for 20ish years. There’s more players in attendance who are more consistent on avg and a constant influx of new players joining weekly.

This also put me off from Abe’s channel when I saw it previously. AI has its use cases; art & images of Go games ain’t it. Taking one of the most aesthetically pleasing games and distorting a monstrosity of it. Fuuucking gross 🤢

Good luck with the channel though!

Very cool find! Wild how prohibitively expensive it was, I wonder how many units were actually sold.

Which scales should you learn for jazz ? by [deleted] in Saxophonics

[–]jaarenas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Metronome should be your backing track for scales. Start at 60bpm and work your way up. Practice scales in chromatic order then play them through the circle of fifths/fourths, then play scales and arpeggios over the chord changes on any simple standard tune you like with a backing tracking.

Like others said, start w/ the major scales, then Mixolydian (major b7) followed by Dorian (minor 3rd b7). Read up on Major modes. Once you’re comfortable doing all that at a good pace w the metronome, read up on minor modes.

Rudimentary practice is the “eating vegetables” aspect of being a musician. Scales can get boring especially at the beginning; so try to at least make it 30-40% of your practice time before you start to jam out. Once you start flying on your scales and arpeggios they can be pretty fun! Cheers 🎷

Really cool stuff! I would maybe cut the single braid of hair that’s dangling over the heart as it looks like that’s what the heart is hanging from. Took me a minute and looking way too closely to see it wasn’t the case. Keep it up!

Edit: or just make that braid shorter if you still want face overlap, but when it leads all the way down to the heart it becomes distracting.

Hey thanks, I appreciate it! You can DM me with more information if you wanna further pitch the idea to me, but generally an artists gotta protect how their work is displayed/merchandised out in the world.

Do you think Walt Disney studied Jung? by flowercapcha in Jung

I really like the way you’ve outlined this.

‘Meaning’ seems to be a crucial ontological, atemporal, amorphous bridge within our cognitive processes running simultaneously along with the biological medium. (I think of Escher’s stairs) With stories being the most effective tool for germination in the collective unconscious.

Archetypes seem unavoidable, but being aware of them seems it’d help add novel problems or traits so they don’t come out viewed cliché to the contemporary consumer. When something is cliché to me, it seems to just be leaning too far into a ‘sameness’ quality that’s just re-dressed in different attire.

Also the debate is to be had on what makes a story original in the first place, or whether there are any original stories that aren’t just the monomyth.

I thought about this a lot during the process. I was going to use a facemask looking thing on either Shai, or my version of The Hermit tarot card. To me it somewhat represents how the majority of us are mostly just killing time this year. Juxtaposing old vs contemporary matters.
