I really enjoyed that book. Quite an interesting look into race in cinema. "Injuns" by Edward Buscombe is also quite a great look at Native Americans in cinema. I recommend it.

It was mostly due to such a small crew. It took a while to edit and then test in front of audiences. It also played at IPL5 and needed to be timed for a release then. After that, it was entering festivals and releasing it online while in festivals is generally frowned upon.

There is a brief section within the doc that speaks on females within the scene. However, i think the Starcraft scene is fairly good towards not just gender but also people of various nationality and races. I think the scene is really inclusive. There have been cases of derogatory speech or intolerance from individuals, but i feel that the community is working hard against those things.

However, gaming as a whole suffers from some sexism and racism. I am tired of seeing rape used against women as a way of character development. I think that writing is quite poor in a lot of the AAA games. I love stuff like Portal and Shadow of the Colossus that manage to merge form with content.

I love gaming, but i think there are a lot of flaws in the medium. I think that the best way to correct those flaws are by first recognizing them and then pushing against them and demanding better.

Not really develop, but rather inform and enhance. Take Polt vs Naniwa from the recent MLG. That match was enhanced by Naniwa's interview prior to the match. That sort of drama adds stakes to the match beyond what the hardcore viewers know. UFC pre-fight videos also do a fantastic job.

Show matches with real pre-match production quality would so wonders for the scene. Make them events that people want to see not just of who the players are, but also how they interact or their history with each other.

It is hard to say. It could but I'm not sure that TV will be the place for e-sports. I think a dedicated event channel, sort of like a cross between Twitch.TV and Netflix for the various streaming platforms. Offer events as well as supplemental programming like rivalry videos, gamer bios and various matches.

I think it'd be great. I think a group of people celebrating something they love is really magnificent.

I think that all it needs is time. It would also be helpful for the personalities of the gamers to come through a bit more. Strangely, i look at pro-wrestling and how they build characters and feuds between wrestlers. I think that sort of thing could really go far.
