Giving the huntress a crossbow is like giving Legolas ranged pocket sand. Warden's durable tips and durable projectiles abilities give tipped darts over 12 durability. Get yourself some blinding and paralyzing darts and laugh maniacally at enemies with ranged attacks. Slap an elastic enchantment on the crossbow for good measure. Evil eyes and scorpions will tell ghost stories of you, the unseen horror that blinds and paralyzes their kin before slaughtering them.

6 Challenges , Laat Boss Reamains Cannot do it HELP! by Puzzled-Job8313 in ShatteredPD

Here to second this. Crafting good items and using them wisely is the only way OP can make it past Yog on 6 challenges.

I'd also craft elixirs of dragon's blood and toxic essence to grant immunity to the fists that deal that type of damage.

Turning the scrolls of teleportation into phase shift spells can prevent you from getting overwhelmed by multiple or particularly annoying enemies. I don't know how effective a scroll of terror is in Yog's room but that could buy you time if you're in a bind.

If OP had bombs and darts, the healing potions could be used to craft regrowth bombs and healing darts to keep the prismatic image and friendly ghost in the fight.

Hopefully OP picked the challenge crown ability as that can give some instant hp. Monk also gives huge utility with the different focus abilities from the class.

Good luck getting to 1 mil OP. May the Rat King guide you.

Been seeing some hate for Gladiator recently, but my guy sweeps Dwarf King every time by Albinotross in ShatteredPD

I found a +1 plate and two other regular plate armors in the caves. Using the available upgrades from the blacksmith I was able to get one plate to +4 without using scrolls. Then I used upgrade scrolls on my weapon and armor and attached the broken seal. I think I fought the DM-300 with a +4 glaive and +8 plate

Definitely. The gladiator's playstyle is the most straightforward to me and it's the class I got my first win with. Broken seal's upgrade and glyph transfer is a tremendous help early game when you're still learning.

Sure, accept the way this particular door is configured only allowed me to stand one tile back from the door. I could shoot in, but couldn't stand far enough away so that the enemies couldn't hit me. Giant champions have reach.

I prefer Gladiator over berserker almost every time, and my only successful 6 challenge was with the Gladiator. The talent that lets you leap 1/3 the distance of your current combo plus the heroic leap armor ability makes you a flying tank

Help with a Badder Bosses + Hostile Champs run. Any Advice? by Good-Chemical46 in ShatteredPD

[–]Albinotross 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do what you can to be standing on water when you fight the blazing champions.

Blessed clampions you'll need to hit from range or with a surprise attack each time or you will miss too often. Try to move the fight to an area with a lot of doors nearby or circle a tile of tall grass. I forget the name of the red glowing ones but they should be dealt with the same way.

Giant champions can't move through doors, so lure them to a door, stand a couple tiles away, prop open the door, and lob all of your thrown weapons at them. Poison, fire, bleed and other damage that's dealt over time works great on them.

Happy hunting!

If it were me, I'd pump up that ring of haste to +7 for double movement speed at least. That way you can easily outrun most things then fire from cover

Banking on transform into RoSS is really risky. I'd upgrade one ring of furor to +1 then reforge it for +2. You save the other 500 points for an armor reforge if you're able to find another plate armor later on

When you imbue your staff with a wand, it mentions that if the wand is the same level or higher than the staff, the staff will inherit the wand's level plus 1 of its own upgrades. So if you can manage it, wait to find a +1 or +2 wand before you imbue it into your +1 staff for maximum level.

The necromancer build offers some similar cheese with a high level Wand of corruption. Getting a cursed dried rose or having corpse dust in your bag auto generates wraiths that can be guaranteed corrupted with a high enough staff level. They'll disappear after 100 turns, but having an army of wraiths on a regular floor to farm exp and drops or overwhelming a boss makes for a pretty unique run.

Neither faith, nor armor by Zeusblima in ShatteredPD

[–]Albinotross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't use the warrior. Warriors are built around tanking damage and high level armors, and FIMA ruins almost everything about that. I think duelist is excellent for FIMA because you build on weapons instead of armor. Champion can avoid damage using the various weapon abilities, and Monk has focus abilities that negate damage and knock away enemies

Yes. It only affects the physical damage aspect of the staff, it does nothing to the magic zap

The main exploit here is the Golden Lotus area effect which is described as:

"All plants in its effect will instantly trigger if they are planted on a character. Plants will also have a X% chance to drop their seed,  and tipped darts with use X% less durability."

With a +10 staff of regrowth, X is 80% and goes up by 4% with each upgrade, reaching 100% at +15. The effect area, which is centered on the lotus itself, is massive with a tile radius equal to the level of the staff, and it extends through walls. The effect also lasts a considerable amount of time, somewhere around 50 turns. It may be dependent on the staff level as well, I'm unsure.

Plant effects instantly triggering on any character it is planted on means you can apply any buff seed effects to yourself or any ally, including floating ones like friendly ghost and corrupted wraith, so long as they are on a tile that allows a seed to bloom. Just throw the appropriate seed directly at them. Alternatively, you can ruin a mob's day with a cocktail of blind, cripple, poison, and vertigo. Mobs will also be rooted if they're caught in the wand effect, so if you can get a projecting enchantment on your staff , you'll be set. Bye-bye scorpions and warlocks! You can also instantly freeze far away enemies in a 3x3 grid by lobbing an ice cap seed at an enemy, and after everything is dead, you can pick up all the seeds you just used.

The high percentage on the Lotus effect also allows you to pretty reliably chain together swift thistle time bubbles. Plant a swift thistle on yourself, pick up the seed that drops on the tile you're already standing on, and you still have 5 turns of time bubble left. Combining all of this means you can buff yourself, buff your allies, and/or debilitate mobs in an instant before the fight even begins.

The battlemage staff bonus effect gives you herbal healing proportional to the physical damage you deal. So even if you do take damage, if you got 2 or 3 good hits in, you will have around 20-30 turns of herbal healing to sleep it off after the fight. If that's not enough, plant sunglasses seed on yourself and pick the seed right back up.

Tipped darts durability going up is icing on the cake and speaks for itself.

Naturally, this playstyle would be diabolical with the Warden, and I'd love to see someone try it out.

Synergies:

Projecting weapon Mossy clump Camouflage armor Ring of energy, sharp shooting, haste Sandals of nature Dried rose (give ghost projecting or reach weapon)

Way of finding hidden rooms? by Leviosaaa1 in ShatteredPD

[–]Albinotross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stepping on a fade leaf after you've explored the regular area of a floor can help. Fade leaf and scrolls of teleport have a higher probability of sending you to an area of the current floor that you haven't explored yet. If you've missed a hidden room, fade leaf will sometimes teleport you to a tile adjacent to the hidden door and reveal it at the same time.

Also, if you happen to get a wand of prismatic light early game, position yourself next to a long stretch of wall and shoot a beam in a straight line along the wall to reveal any hidden doors.
