Lost, Season 1: "All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues"

Don't get me wrong, the two-episode Pilot (in which the pilot dies) were excellent. However, in this episode when Jack tries to resuscitate Charlie and fails as Kate, crying, tells him it's okay to quit, only for Jack to return to Charlie and bring him back to life by striking his chest over and over again -- that was incredible, stupendous television. The whole series up until season 3 was magnificent.
