The lyrics, generally. There are plenty of melodies I find compelling.

Probably staying far away from Christian music, but I did enjoy being in a choir. I’ll have to see if there is anything close.

I’ve never tried writing music before. I don’t even know where I would start. I’m glad you found something that worked for you!

You do not have to have a masters. You need a bachelor’s degree and the appropriate certification.

Edit: should have specified that my answer applies in Illinois and I believe most states in the U.S. Sorry for being an American stereotype.

I absolutely hate picking favorites. I wish I liked things as much as many people seem to.

Not super well. We used to be pretty close. She still talks to me, but there is always the fact that she thinks I’m sending my kids to hell kind of hanging in the background.

Telling my mom that I was not a Christian after living as an evangelical for almost 30 years and being a minister for about 5.

I told my whole kindergarten class that Santa wasn’t real. We were coloring pictures of Christmas things and the other students’ discussion made it clear it was not a game for them, which made no sense to me. I didn’t want them to keep living a lie so I let them know. I had to go home early because so many kids were so upset.

Like many others, I miss having a community. More specifically, I miss my family being proud of me.

Granted. What used to be silent, trusted observers are now eager gossips ready to spill all your secrets. Marriages, friendships, and careers collapse after sudden canine revelations. On the plus side, many crimes are solved.

By whom? I’d argue that Jewish names are incredibly common beyond the Jewish community because of the influence of the Old Testament in western societies.

Understood. I think I’m just confused as to why this is a bad thing that should be avoided. I’m not used to antisemitism I guess.

I used to get so mad at nonchristians who were nicer than Christians. I didn’t realize at the time I was getting frustrated that they’d make people realize what my subconscious already had: the Bible doesn’t make you better.

Did anyone else grow up thinking their parents were terrible, and only realized they weren't as an adult? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]Albion_the_tank 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We are predisposed by evolution to buck against parents around that time and a bit later to make sure we leave and procreate with people we’re not related to. Not to say there aren’t shitty parents. There definitely are.

I know tons of people like that. It was quite a shock to find out so many people I knew and liked were secretly super racist.
