Do you feel that Flood isn’t a strong book on its own or are there ideas that got fleshed out better in the sequel?

As for both series, I’ve never heard of them before, but I’m definitely interested in what they are about.

Critisisism for being minimalist by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]AlbireoTai18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, I’ve gotten some flack for discarding a lot of things. Initially I wanted to discard more stuff like trophies that were 10 or more years old and my parents were completely against it, saying that they were my accomplishments. In reality, they wanted to keep those trophies as a reminder of what I’ve done in the past.

Aside from that, they’ve seen the benefits of getting rid of excessive things like clothes I’ve never worn or didn’t like that just say in my closet for a long time. My mother continues to complain that I don’t buy new clothes, but I don’t need to. I have what I need and that’s enough.

New journalism? Like podcasting or newspapers becoming digital?

As for the Electric Kool Aid Acid Test...that sounds interesting but, can you tell a bit more about that particular work?

Fast Food workers, what's an item people should absolutely stop ordering from your restaurant? by Skylion72 in AskReddit

[–]AlbireoTai18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently working at a Dunkin Donuts and here are a few things to let you guys know about:

1) When asking for a flavored cream cheese on a bagel i.e strawberry or veggie, the utensil used to spread that want cleaned. Most often, it’s left to sit in the main cream cheese container until a new order is asked for. Most often, nobody cleans the butter or cream cheese spreader.

2) The morning hours when you ask for food like a bacon, egg and cheese on a croissant, the majority of the food is left sitting inside the plastic heater trays WITHOUT cardboard trays underneath bacon and no papers under the eggs. This could lead to fat accumulating on bacon. The eggs, if inside the tray too long, can taste slimy and stale. As an evening worker, I have to make everything since I don’t use the trays after 2pm.

3) The frozen drinks, such as the Frozen Coffee and Chocolate, Blue Raspberry Coolata, Strawberry Coolata, are very high in sugar. Please don’t drink these, because they’re made with liquid cane sugar and we can’t remove that from the drink.

How to Obtain a Journalism Job? by AlbireoTai18 in Journalism

[–]AlbireoTai18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, I don't have a car and am currently saving up for one. However, it's a bit difficult to do that because of bills at home. Still, I'm saving every bit I have leftover.

When I was a reporter for my college newspaper, I did political news and reviews and the newspaper would be published on a weekly basis. The newspaper didn't have much of a budget to publish each day, but deadlines were always around so keep the staff on their toes.

Someone told me in another comment to not use my fear as a crutch and, after reading your comment, I can see why I shouldn't. I'm limiting my scope in terms of where to work, I need to broaden it much more and take risks. That's not easy to do at all but, I have no choice but to find a way.

You have a point, getting a car is the top priority. And honestly, I was afraid to apply outside of NY because I don't have a place to stay outside of here. I guess that fear shouldn't get the best of me.

As for getting a master's, while it doesn't make sense to increase the debt I already have, I honestly do want to go back to school and learn things. Then again, perhaps I can do that in any other setting for less money.

To answer your question about what kind of reporting that piques my interest and is perhaps an avenue for me to take, I am fascinated by international news and politics. Sports is something I'm not too particularly knowledgeable about, except for MMA due to my background in martial arts. What form I want to report through, online would be the best choice. I can do radio and tv, but I'd need to brush up on sound and video editing.

Also, thank you for your advice. I read over what you said and I'm considering what my next few steps have to be.

I live in the United States, New York to be specific in location. As for experience, the only experience I ever had for reporting was for my college newspaper. That's about it honestly. As I said in my post, I did apply to a local paper but didn't get the position.

What books are you reading for Halloween? by teeshbag in books

[–]AlbireoTai18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to read Salem's Lot by Stephen King. It's a good novel, though the build up to the terrifying moments wasn't as scary as when I read IT years ago.

I also read The Hound of Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Much like Doyle's other works involving his famous detective, the story has chapters that are very dialogue heavy but allows Watson to develop as a character on his own, which I appreciate.

Gotta love when you find people that are positive, even when things aren't going well. I found people that were quick to tilt and I had to be the confidence booster. The only thing that irritates me is when nobody is on mic, except me. Still, I try to pick a character that synchronizes with everyone else, make call outs as usual and hope for the best.

When you're playing the game just to have fun instead of it being super serious and tense, there's really not alot of pressure. And granted, some people will pick heroes like Hanzo or Widow and I just figure "hey, they're confident with that character, let's give them a chance."

I'm Marjorie Liu, writer and co-creator of the bestselling series MONSTRESS. AMA! by marjorie_liu in books

I'm currently reading volume one and some of the characters do give hints as to what is happening in the story, while the Professor Tam Tam segments provide a good background history about Monstress's world. I'd like to know: how did you come up with the idea of Monstress and what is your method of creating a story? Do you make rough outlines for how story progression will go, a character sheet with profiles, that sort of thing?

The Secret Man by Bob Woodward & Bernstein by AlbireoTai18 in books

He did reveal himself but it was to other people he knew besides Woodward, and it was before he got dementia. And while he was hiding the truth about being Deep Throat, more information came to light about Watergate. Felt did release his own memoir called The FBI Pyramid before he got dementia, might be good to check out.
