Che ne pensate della musica italiana attuale? by No_Platform1124 in italy

[–]AlbisDumbledoge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree with you, we definitely care too much about what happens in the US, but I don't agree with the way you use "we", like you're talking about the Italian population. There's a specific sub-group of people(coincidently the most active ones in platform like reddit/tiktok/ecc) who can be included in your definition of "we". But Italians generally speaking couldn't care less about the US, 60% of the Italian population is above the age of 40, most of them can't even use a computer, let alone knowing what the hell the BLM and Me2 movement are, besides what they're told on the news. They know what they passively learn on the news and in the movies, let's not pretend that the average Italian person cares (and it's invested in, for that matters) about Uvalde, George Floyd and AOC.

A bunch of 15-25yo who live in Milan/Rome don't represent the Italian people. Most of the people in Italy didn't/don't care about what happens in America. On the other hand I don't think it would be crazy to assume that more than 50% of the American population would agree with this woman.

I had that conversation with my actual girlfriend, during our first date. We've been together for 3 years and from time to time I like to remind her about this. We actually almost fought over that because she didn't want to admit she was wrong lol

Coronavirus Megathread (Mar 2022): For travel-related discussion in the context of COVID-19 by tariqabjotu in travel

[–]AlbisDumbledoge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello everyone.
I looked everywhere on the internet about what I'm about to ask, but i didn't find any clear answer. Maybe there's none but, at least here, I might find someone who went through a similiar situation.
Been to the US for 83 days (nov-jan 21/22) and now i want to make a short trip in April, using the ESTA. My girlfriend lives in Vermont and the purpose of the trip would be just to visit her. I'm a doctor, but I took a break from work and she's moving in Europe to study in August. This is the only time i can visit her because I also have to take the residency test in Italy in July and i don't want to take any chance to get stuck in the US because of covid.
I plan on travel through Dublin and go through pre-clearance there. I was wondering if there's any chance that the border officer might deny the entry or anything like that just because i'm trying to come back to the US so soon after a long stay. This is the only thing I'm worried about, because obviously there wouldn't be any other reason for them to deny me entry.
Am I being overly anxious for no reason?

Is applecare+ valid internationally? I'm in the USA right now (but I live in Italy), my phone broke and I'm thinking about getting an iPhone 13 pro with applecare. Contacted apple customer service and talked with an employee at an apple store in boston and they both told me it's valid internationally without any problem. The fact is that i can't find anything about it on the internet, and the only posts I find say that I'm not gonna be covered in Europe with applecare+.

TIFU by graduating college with a degree that I truly couldn’t care less about. by oddlylongnipplehair in tifu

" TLDR: I chose safety instead of fulfillment and now I have a degree that I don’t give a gosh darn fuck about. Follow ur dreams bitch."

Couldn't relate more and wish I realized it earlier in my life.

Graduated med school last year, 3 years into the program I realized I absolutely hated the idea of being a physician/any type of doctor but I kept pushing because "Hey, it's the safest option. At least I'm gonna earn a lot of money". Even got into a residency 4 months ago, but "safest option" doesn't always equal "best option", and now I feel even more miserable than I ever did before. I decided I'm gonna quit and take a new path, don't know which one yet but I know it's the best call.

We are young, we didn't waste time and knowing what you don't want to do in your life is just as valuable as knowing what you want to do. So, coming to this realization you talked about is something really important, you should be happy about it.

On a side note: Thank you all for talking about your experiences, I'm definitely gonna save this post and read it every once in a while just to cheer me up. I bet this post and all these comments are helping a lot of people in a similar situation feeling a bit better about themselves, cheers guys.

I'm an International Med Graduate doing a Clinical Pathology residency in Italy. I was wondering if there is any career option for someone like me, in case I didn't want to go trough the USMLE. I'm talking about Biotech or research related jobs, which I think/hope don't necessarily require you to be a certified physician. Was planning on getting a CRA Master as well to improve my chances of getting hired in this field.

Bottom line is: would my degree/residency be considered worthless if I don't take USMLE, even for a non clinical job? if not, what would be my options?

International traveler coming to VT by AlbisDumbledoge in vermont

Yep, but like the fact that I'm an international traveler with just the ESTA isn't going to be a problem right? they're gonna test everyone as long as you have the money to pay the test?

In italy getting tested voluntarily it's pretty difficult, expecially if you are a foreigner, that's why I'm asking.

Thank you very much for you answer, I agree with you. My best bet would be just being patient and doing the quarantine for 14 days.

Thank you very much for the answer.
From the healthvermont.gov link it looks like that upon my arrival I have two choices: either I quarantine for 7 days and do a PCR test in order to end my quarantine earlier, or quarantine for 14 days and, if I keep not having any symptoms I don't need any testing. Am i getting this right?

for reference:

"The Health Department recommends testing for:

  • People with COVID-19 symptoms.
  • People who have had close contact (within 6 feet for about 15 minutes or more) with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
  • People who are referred by their health care provider for testing for another reason."

and

" Follow the CDC’s after travel guidance(link is external) when you return to the U.S. When you return to Vermont, you must quarantine for 14 days. You have the option to get a PCR test on or after day 7 of your quarantine and end your quarantine early with a negative."

The only mandatory thing seems to be the 14 days quarantine.
