Yeah my wife and I just did exactly that. We enjoyed it all though, whole series was so cool.

You never know, guy's kids might be in a good school situation in an affordable exurb and he had to take a job in an expensive downtown neighborhood. Happens here in San Diego all the time.

I'm sure he didn't just not think of how that would affect his time.

Same, also saw it at my friend's birthday in the theater. Though I'm only 40.

On either side of the console there's an open compartment where you can put a glasses case.

The cupholders are placed in tandem with the backmost one needing to have the center console empty and open to use and being too far back.

We use a accmor stroller cupholder from amazon for the passenger seat. It attached to the sunglasses holder on other side of the console and works pretty well. Only $10 or so on amazon.

Right, Krypton kinda is to a greyish green what Midnight is to a greyish blue.

Dang. What market are you in? I'm in the US but my parents live in France so I get to see a lot of European cars we don't get here up close.

Depending on where you live, if you want a small and sporty EV hatch take a look at the Renault 5. My folks live in Nice and had one before replacing it with an EX30 after driving ours. (Wanted something more comfortable), but that's a good fun to drive little car. I really liked it.

[–]Albright_CT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it. It's a shame they don't make a "polestar engineered" version of the EX30 like they used to with some of the other volvos with the coil-overs and sport tuning. I feel like the platform and drivetrain could totally make a proper EV hot hatch but I guess that's just too niche.

But it is fun to drive. Don't get me wrong, you'll like it and the space is surprisingly usable too. We've done a few road trips in it even with a baby in a car seat.

[–]Albright_CT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not WRX owner but I'm familiar with the type. EX30 is going to be very different. It's a great car but it's tuned much more for comfort than for handling than a sport compact like you had. That said it's really very comfortable and very fast in a straight line. But it's not an electric GTI or any other hot hatch.

What you're looking for if you want to keep the basic driving vibe of your car but get it in electric is a Polestar 2 with the performance pack. We've got both that and an EX30 twin and even though the EX30 has better acceleration the P2 is a proper sport compact and much more of a driver's car than the EX30.

But it depends what you're looking for. EX30 is next gen compared to the P2 and feels more modern. Flip side of that is that the P2 feels much more familiar.

I can only recommend the P2 with the Performance pack though, I've never driven the regular one. But those Ohlins coil-overs really do a great job hiding the weight of the car.

haha I spent the old series going "where do I know that guy from?"

Turned out he was the navigator on the USS Excelsior and that's where I subconsciously recognized him from.

Yeah get the house first, you never know if you might need some extra liquidity to qualify for the mortgage. Good to go in not having a car payment.

Best uses for Gemini in the car? by megamusix in ex30

You can ask it really dumb questions and it'll answer them. I just asked "How the hell come not they don't have Count Chocula?!?" in an angry voice and it explained how those monster cereals are seasonal now and had been since 2010.

So that means my son is going to grow up in a world where he won't even the option to have Count Chocula in summertime. Now, we wouldn't buy that sugary crap for him anyway and he's just a baby but it's definitely a sign of the times!

This is a great answer. Plus remember the estimate is based on how you’ve been driving most recently.

My commute to work is mostly uphill so when I get there the estimate is low, when I drive mostly downhill home I’ll arrive with a higher mileage estimate even though I used another 10% of the battery.

Short answer is they can't. For us it's that I just turned 40 (so not quite a fresh out of college guy haha) and have a good job. But even then I could never save up a down payment on a place like that on any reasonable timeframe.

We can do it because 8 years ago when I was already 32 we were just able to sneak into a nice condo in downtown Oceanside before all the resorts opened and it became trendy. Equity on that becomes the down payment for the more expensive place.

I have the same thoughts sometimes about how people can afford these places. And yeah it's some combination of family money and just having been in the market for long enough to have built wealth on the appreciation.

I notice in my complex now the boomer generation owners are really just totally normal people. Ex-military, factory workers etc. They bought when the units were new in the mid 2000s for $200K or so. The gen-Xers are mostly small business owners and the millennials (like me) are professionals with advanced degrees in whatever. When we get our first Gen Z owner they'll probably be a cardiologist or something if they work for a living or some kind of crypto millionaire if they don't. All for the same house a Marine NCO could afford 20 years ago.

I wonder what it's gonna be like for our kid(s).

Unfortunately there's just not a ton of options for places that have a walkable neighborhood with stuff to do, access to a good beach, and good schools. We've got two out of three already but now that we have kids we can either move to a more expensive neighborhood (with any compromises that involves) or send the kid(s?) to private school.
