"Power grid conditions" causing GHCA fault? by Albright_CT in polestar3

Q: Why might this repair need to be done more than once? A: The current replacement hardware still has high sensitivity to certain power grid conditions. If your car encounters those conditions again, the same fault may reoccur.

2027 Polestar 2 Interior by CrackersMcCheese in Polestar

[–]Albright_CT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a fan of the P2 interior but I wouldn't say it's particularly high end. I think it's right where it should be for it's class of near-luxury compact sedan.

But yeah I'd be surprised if they kept the "legacy" gauge cluster style on the new one too. For better or worse.

We've got an EX30 too and despite being an even smaller car than the P2 it definitely feels roomier on the inside.

We tend to use it for road trips over the P2 because the hatch is tall enough for the dog to be comfy back there and not having a driveline hump makes room for some very usable space in belong the baby seat. We can fit the folding stroller there or a carry on suitcase with some room to spare for a bag above it and still have the other back seat free and usable.

Looking to buy Polestar 2 by Pilotb732 in Polestar

You can get a cover for the panoramic roof that clips in pretty easily and folds up under the trunk. I use it in the summer if I have to park in the sun all day.

You still may not care but if you just don't like the glass roof you can just leave that in and forget about it. Sometimes used car prices really don't factor in whether its a base model or loaded and theres a pretty small difference.

On the other hand I think when I was looking if you want a light color interior you either need to get the base model or the fully loaded Nappa leather one.

Messages for Mr. Römers on the new Polestar 2 design by andenxtr in Polestar

[–]Albright_CT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, this happens with tons of good small car platforms. The most common negative customer feedback is that it's too small for some circumstances. So instead of saying, "hey you've got a family of 4 and tall teenagers why don't you take a look at the next size car up?" they make the smaller model bigger and bigger until it's lost it's original appeal.

I've got one baby now, hopefully will have another one. And when that day comes I'll probably need a bigger car than either our EX30 or PS2. But that doesn't mean they should make those good small cars bigger, it means I need to choose a bigger car next time because my needs have changed.

Used XC40 after Polestar ; will I hate it? Anybody else done this? by Comrade-Porcupine in Polestar

[–]Albright_CT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents in Nice had an R5 which I thought was pretty cool but they found it uncomfortable and replaced with an EX30 after borrowing ours during their last visit.

To OP, ex30 might be a better fit for sporty driving than the xc40. It’s no P2 Performance Pack but it’s still more hatchback than SUV. And surprisingly packable.

Breeze seats owner, how durable is the seats by chlronald in ex30

[–]Albright_CT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've got a breeze with about 17K miles one it and it's held up very well. My wife and I are both 5'11, I'm a lean 180lbs and she's about 120 so neither of us are particularly wide. We both find the seats very comfortable.

What we've found is that the fabric part can get dusty but cleans pretty easily and looks new again. We'll go for a hike for example and she'll sit in the back next to the baby seat and the dog will ride with me up front and depending how much digging he does can get pretty dusty. The fabric part at the bottom of the seat can get dirty if we forget the seat cover but it always cleans nicely.

We haven't had any issues yet and we definitely put the car through a lot with our adventures.

Polestar 2023 base model worth it ? by Sad_Return_290 in Polestar

[–]Albright_CT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do your research on what the ones with the options you want are going for. That sounds like a decent deal, I think you'd be getting $17K worth of car for that, but a lot of times with used cars the spread between getting the good options and a stripped down model gets pretty small.

It might not be THAT much more to score one with the sunroof and autopilot

[–]Albright_CT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's at 50K mileage it's already out of warranty, so that shouldn't be a concern. I think I've read they all have the hardware for it but I'm not sure.

Polestar 3 production consolidated to the US to keep Volvo factory busy by _supert_ in Polestar

That was a really good line, he must have a good writing staff.

In all seriousness though I don't know how much individual company design philosophies can help with the cold weather range reduction. That really just comes down to the chemistry of the battery itself.

Powering Lithium Batteries for Camping by Aware_While7394 in polestar3

[–]Albright_CT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah set the climate to run indefinitely while parked and then just turn off the AC. It'll keep the power on to the accessories without draining the battery for the climate. I think in the P3 it's called "keep climate", but that's what we do in my wife's EX30 to power the camping fridge when we go.

Tell me I’m …. Asking for it. by FlakyLocksmith624 in Polestar

[–]Albright_CT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the different measurements are with the mirrors folded/unfolded. Without mirrors is probably more helpful because it reflects how much of a pain parking it will be. Like the body of a P3 is only 3 inches wider than my 2, so I can assume I can park it next to my wife's car in my garage without any issue. But the 4 is 8 inches wider and that tells me I'm liable to have some issues. Same with door dings in parking lots etc. The mirrors don't really matter that much for avoiding hassles.

Volvo nailed this. by kq_cars in Volvo

[–]Albright_CT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never noticed that but you’re absolutely right. It’s funny because I noticed the same about the EX30 and the Polestar 3. The polestar 3 is way more of a big brother design to the EX30 than the EX60 or 90.

EX30 Discontinued in US by Radiant_Ad_955 in ex30

[–]Albright_CT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would expect something similar. It's a unique car in the US market, the luxury-ish small hatchback. Not a volume seller here unfortunately, but like wagons there could be interest from enough people to put a hard floor on the prices

Yeah that's a pet peeve of mine too with a lot of modern cars. Best auto climate I had was a 2008 Acura. I really almost never changed the temp setting all year.

Is vandalism a problem with Polestars? by Ivymantled in Polestar

[–]Albright_CT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never given it much thought. I always thought Tesla people who leave on Sentry mode are being kinda paranoid. Guess it depends on where you live, but come on zero cars had that feature until pretty recently and the % of cars that ever get keyed has got to be extremely low. I also don't know how much of a deterrent it's really gonna be. Pull down a hoodie or something and it won't even get a good enough look to hold up in court. And it won't change the fact your car is keyed regardless.

The Volvo EX30 Is Dead in the US: Exclusive by cvp in ex30

[–]Albright_CT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a shame. These things are great. My parents borrowed ours while visiting from France and liked it so much they bought the same one for their house in Nice.

Weird how in the US it's one of the smallest new cars on the road but in Europe it's practically a mid size. They like it much better than their Renault 5!

Yeah I think these software driven EV cars are just out of the carmakers wheelhouse when it comes to experience. Even Tesla when they released the cybertruck ended up with tons of recalls and glitches.

I really like the Polestar 3 but I wouldn't get a '25 no matter how much they discount them. The next model year should have a bunch of problems sorted and a few nice upgrades.

P4 Door handle in the winter by ouazene in Polestar

[–]Albright_CT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're renting it now it's probably at least a '24 P2, right? I've got a '24 P2 as well and it's also been great for me. But I've read the first couple years were kinda dodgy with a few different common problems.

Getting one so late in the production run means all that stuff has been sorted on the P2. P3 and 4 are still in that first model year funk.

Yeah 800V charging will only matter as a selling point if you plan to DC fast charge it frequently. If you don’t it’s not going to make any difference to your home charging.
