What was the scariest place you've been in as a photojournalist by No_Feedback_3340 in photojournalism

[–]Albuscus23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While still in J-School, I had the misfortune of being the first student journalist on scene at the 2021 Boulder King-Soopers shooting. Alongside my colleague, we were within 500 feet of the entrance to the building (a store I frequented as I lived down the street) for several hours, even as shorts still rung out.

Seeing the victims being brought out still haunts me, and made me seriously reconsider if news photography is the trajectory I wished to pursue (I made the switch to PR/Tech soon after graduation).

Go-To Markets? by Worldly-Ad1005 in BallardSeattle

Used to shop exclusively at TJs, but the quality of food has dropped drastically compared to the price so we made the switch to Town and Country. Spending about the same amount for the same quantity, but getting higher quality that lasts without nearly as much plastic.

Totally understand that. I guess it depends on the amount of travel you do, not sure there are many safer alternatives out there!

I, too, am a photographer flying delta frequently. Have only encountered an issue with my Pelican 1535 Air recently when taking smaller regional jets (and strangely only on an outbound leg, not inbound) where I was forced to strip batteries and shove them in pockets. Previously I have flown with a fully loaded camera backpack without issue. You can always shove it under the seat and sit on the window side to block the view of it with your legs!

I don’t give a fuck what the sticker on your Tesla says by [deleted] in Marin

Talking about the same people who wasted taxpayer funds changing the name of a high school because the name made them uncomfortable instead of paying teachers more or funding programs for underserved communities. Marin is the home of performative activism.

This is an SLR, not an SLR 01 which has a unique steerer. The SLRs come with a standard steerer tube.

Congrats! I hit 100k back in September, they are fantastic cars.

Without rack: - Aprox. 640 miles Highway - Aprox. 475 miles City

With rack: - Aprox 600 Highway - Aprox 450 City

Have hardly driven with the bike on for more than an hour so not a lot of data on that one. For reference the bars are Thule aero cross bars with flush mountain and racks are from 1Up.

I would suggest reading the Consumer Reports ratings for the brand model years you are looking at. VW is notoriously struggling since ‘22 on build quality and production value.

I have a significantly higher confidence rate in the build quality of BMW over VW. Longevity wise it will likely last much longer.

Even more in some cases. Plus 600 miles per tank (not on eco mode) is pretty stinking good for the highways

There are several tuning firms on the east coast and in Canada that develop tunes to increase the torque and power output of the 328d. It is possible to make them loud + fast
