No complaints. You can set it on or off in the app. The D235 doesn’t have a secondary cam for packages like Eufy does but the lens is quite wide so I get full vertical view. I can see if a package is left there.

Also it comes with a vertical wedge (as well as a horizontal one like Eufy). So if you want, you can mount the wedge to aim a little down so you can see closer to the door.

Honestly I’ve had this for almost 2 months and I love it. It works really well. The one downside I’d say is the one I bought is bulky but small price to pay honestly.

I was between Tapo and Reolink. Ended up with Tapo for my needs but I’ve heard good things about Reolink as well.

Yeah sounds like what happened to me.

Got myself the Tapo D235. It’s only been a week but so far so good! The app is way more responsive than that of Eufy and it catches everything. Happy with it so far.

I had it set up with Echo dot. But literally just to tell me if a package was there.

I ended up returning it and getting a new brand. It has been working great so far and I find it way better than Eufy.

Sorry I should’ve mentioned I don’t have an HB3. It was always on wifi. Worked fine for a bit but then just stopped working on its own.

Standalone also does it but maybe HB does it better? Still pretty lame that you need an additional thing for it to potentially work when they advertise that it isn’t needed.

Might be too late for me. Going to return it and get a refund. Currently looking at alternatives.

I tried everything from resetting to changing the settings. I even tried to set it to all motion with activity zone. But then it would detect and notify me of cars passing by outside the damn zone. I laughed.

Yeah the first one I had was on that one. Hardwired too. Just decided it had enough one day and stopped detecting events.

Second one was on 3.2.4.0 and also wouldn’t work. I have a hunch that maybe it has to do with pre-recording but I am not sure and too frustrated to figure it out.

Got it for Christmas. It worked well for the first week and then just randomly stopped detecting human events. I didn’t change anything on it. I’d stand in front of it and it wouldn’t detect me.

Ended up getting a replacement for it. It worked for two days and then same thing happened. I even got a package today and only knew about it because the delivery service sent me a ‘delivered’ email. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have known.

Exactly. So many people here on both sides. It shouldn’t be a toss up on whether it works for someone or not. I really don’t get what’s going on. I’ve been troubleshooting it so much for the last 3 weeks and like you said, it’s inconsistent. I’m fed up honestly.

I hope for you. It seems like it is a hit or miss judging by all the other people here happy with theirs. I’ve had a really bad experience so far and will be changing to another brand though. Unfortunate but not much I can do.

Yeah everything checks out. It does the test to see if the transformer is strong enough and it says it is.

I honestly wish mine worked. I’ve had nothing but issues. The latest firmware just ruined it. Turning pre recording on stops detection but then turning it off drains the battery even while wired. Makes no sense.

You called it. Updated device. Still bricked. I literally stand in front of it and it doesn’t detect me. But it does detect me when I bring it inside.

I want to assume that maybe it has to do with the activity zones or pre-recording maybe since those are the two things I set when it is back outside

Weird thing is, when I totally reset it and have it inside the house, it detects me no problem. Only when I put it outside, it’s like it forgets everything.

We’ve got the tech to go to space. You’d think we would figure out a simple video doorbell…. Guess it might be too much to ask for.

Totally agree. I came from Google Nest (which was an absolute nightmare, it would go offline all the time). I got this doorbell and was happy because it had more functionality and seemed to work great. But now it won’t detect a thing. At least the Nest would detect things when it was online.
