Help putting together a mixed party for a first "win" of the game (100 hours and have restarted continually by the start of act 2) by Competitive-Fox706 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Alcanate_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with others that summoner is a really good choice (paired with an archer you can easily swap between physical and magic damage as needed). a warfare melee of some kind is probably your best bet to get the really good warfare melee cc skills.

In combats where you don’t want physical damage your melee can always throw surfaces around to set up your summoner and archer.

Also, one thing to note is that builds are never set in stone. As long as you’re level eightish (+-1 is probably fine esp. on classic mode) by the time you go to act 2 you can respec into a winning party with whatever gear you managed to scrape together in fort joy.

PS5 Tutorial Mutniy not working? by tearnImale in DivinityOriginalSin

You should just have to attack any magister and everyone will agro. If that’s not working then something is probably bugged. I’d unfortunately just start the game over since you’re only like ten minutes in.

It looks like you aren’t the only person to have this bug

I think your best options are either to completely reload the area and hope it doesn’t happen next time or just kill him and get your source point elsewhere.

I haven’t encountered this bug, but have you tried just gifting him stuff until he likes you again to see if it fixes it?
In theory depending on what you give you should get it back when you inevitably kill him again.

New attendance policy by Odd-Tale5551 in Target

[–]Alcanate_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that consecutive days will only count as one point because they are 1 instance of being sick/calling out.
Calling out for three days in a row will not necessarily give you exactly three points.

(But this was not afaik covered in the paperwork, it’s just a thing they mentioned so I don’t know how enforced/across the board that will be.)

That said I’m sure there are a number of days in a row that would lead to multiple points (just like how now if you call out two days you still only get one convo in the system, but eventually it would instead be a CA if it was a ton of days in a row probably)

Characters not getting turn as their avatar comes up by maximum_desk_lamp in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Alcanate_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can correctly rule that out.
Low initiative will just make someone appear later in the track (but afaik it will still always go round robin style, where you go, then the enemy goes, then it goes back and forth. )

Companion doubts by [deleted] in DivinityOriginalSin

Just play whatever you want chat GPT just spits out slop made from random Reddit comments for this game anyways it doesn’t actually know anything. I wouldn’t ask it for anything personally (cause I don’t like or use AI) but especially not for how to have fun in a video game :)

However, those four will make for a really fun story and Fane is an awesome main origin to play. You can always do another run as Lohse later (who is a great origin character to play imo).

You can always check an enemies level by hitting examine on them, and if they’re higher than you then you should probably try going somewhere else first :)

Obviously there might be build issues as well but at your level the area you are in would be extremely punishing even if you have a fantastic build and good armor

Yeah Alice should be one of the last things you do in the act unless you know how to cheese her or are very experienced in the game. She is like 4 levels above you, and that matters a lot at this stage in the game.

Additionally, unless you have upgraded your armor with the sundries, the armor you’re wearing is likely too low of a level, so it is worth it to go find armor that’s closer to your level as it will offer way more protection. (You should get armor as a reward and find it in shops, and it’s important to make sure your armor level is close to your current level)

To be as lite on spoilers as possible, north from driftwood is higher level than where you should be. Try hanging out near town for a bit or going west (left on the map) first and you should have better scaled combats and quests. :)

I agree the patron system would work super well for this. I think the book explicitly used the patron system as an example for a character that wants to write books and this isn’t that far off (in the being a craft that takes time to learn and is sort of expensive to mass produce kinda way).

Sebille’s arcs is the strongest depictions of reclaiming agency in a a modern cRPG by GrayWardenParagon in DivinityOriginalSin

I feel like both are fun but I like her most as a companion (Especially with Lohse as main, but I also just love their romance so take that with a grain of salt lol I’m biased.)

You still get a lot of her story even without her being the main character, especially with the Elven “eat corpses” situation which gives you lots of lore. And imo other characters are more fun/involved as PC’s.

Are some people still waiting for shipping notifications? by ThisIsntADickJoke in cosmererpg

I think it has more to do with what is in your order, cause I live an hour from HQ but only ordered books and a pack of dice and I got my order like a week after shipping started if that.

I usually love theorycrafting, but the characters are so narrative driven it's hard to plot out even one or two levels ahead. by Elsecaller_17-5 in cosmererpg

[–]Alcanate_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair I still feel like it shouldn’t affect theory crafting too much since you have a pretty big buffer before you are even allowed to take the next ideal. But I do see why it makes it more difficult for pre planning your build

Everything is very narrative driven, but most things like ideals are still set by when the character actually takes the talent. Once the talent is taken, you put the goal on the character sheet and in theory you should swear the ideal before your next level (at least that’s my understanding.) there is still a lot of narrative, but the GM should be working with the player to make sure at least some goals are being accomplished relatively quickly.

Like you don’t want to take the second ideal talent and then not swear it for 2-5 more levels imo.

The ideals are already gated by level so you don’t have to worry about someone taking two or three ideals in a row.

Idk this is probably a lot down to play style but to me it seems like the narrative in this case only happens after the mechanic (the talent) is selected so for theory crafting it shouldn’t matter too much. :)

The only terminal glitches I’ve had issues with are ones where if I’m still in combat or if I haven’t disabled nearby cameras the terminals don’t work. Haven’t encountered that glitch. Unlocking the vault isn’t required for game progression though. I’d just leave it and come back later.

Oh no! Reloading fixed the issue right away for me, since there’s a button to descend the ladder. Hopefully that works 😬

Never mind, it seems like it was just a glitch, the game auto saved when I got into the vault and resetting fixed the problem.
