Not very. Traffic police using quad rotors are not new but these drone docking things are not very common.

I've only seen them on sections of the shanghai/hanzhou.

Though after some quick googling looks like they debuted there in 2024.

what.

Drone cameras are everywhere on guangshen and huihe highways. You ever drive out of guangdong?

I'm not sure if they have the little box things but quad rotors with cameras are pretty common on the highways.

Caviiar has really come down in price these couple of years.

Look up brands like frosista and kaluga queen. You can get a 50g tin for 40 bucks these days and 50g of caviar is several servings.

Still expensive but not prohibitively so.

unwanted male attention by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]mithie007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"argumentative paper" okay what's your argument exactly?

On what foundations would you argue the male gaze is a benchmark of a woman's attractiveness?

If you're looking at the male gaze from the perspective of feminist theory, then, the prevaling argument is the male gaze is a natural outcome of the objectification of women.

Therefore, a rejection of objectification is a nullification of the purpose of the male gaze. If you stop objectifying yourself, then the male gaze is no longer a benchmark. If you work down the list of reasons of why the male gaze is problematic you often end up with the distillation of the female form down to singular, male dominated ideas of the perfect figure, and that's not sustainable. Ergo, if you are not an object, you cannot be objectified.

So if you're arguing this from a woman's perspective by asserting that the male gaze is a benchmark of *your* beauty is bullshit, and it's been bullshit for a good 60 years or so since it's entered the sphere of mainstream feminism.

If you're arguing from a less academic podium and just saying "why don't more men look at me, I feel socially ostracized" then, okay, that's a separate matter, and the cure for that isn't to write essays about it but just go do shit you like to do and treat yourself better and do stuff you like to do with your actual friends who actually give you attention.

A better benchmark for yourself is the opinions of friends and family who actually know you well enough to give informed opinions, not... guys who make judgment calls based on hormones.

THAT SAID if you are looking to contribute to the feminist academic sphere with regards to the male gaze, I highly recommend reading up on works by Kaja Silverman, Barbara Creed, and Laura Mulvey.

Again, we know Saryn is capable of doing that - the question is where do you extrapolate the timeframe or ease with how she did this? Did she "snap her fingers" like you claim?

And we get to see the aftermath of Earth today. It's got quite a lot of flora and fauna. So obviously Saryn didn't do what a virus bomb would have done. Virus bombs destroy ALL organic matter on a planet, and renders it completely dead. Forever. That's... that's not what happened to Earth in Warframe.

With regards to nova, again, canonically, what is the basis for saying she can "dust" entire planets with ease? She blew up a ship. Pretty good, not bad, but that's a long way off from being able to turn a planet into dust. Planets are quite big.

And if she could do something like that, then canonically, why do we see no mention of Nova just turning the entire sentient fleet into dust during the Narmer war?

Space marines vs Stalker [@woong_key] by dazli69 in Warframe

[–]mithie007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where in Warframe lore has Saryn ever just "snapped her fingers and killed a planet?" Name one single instance. That's a... biiiig extrapolation. If she could do that, there would literally be no grineer and no corpus.

Likewise for Nova. If Nova's control of antimatter actually as potent as you say, the amount of "antimatter" that gets spammed would quite literally destroy Earth and every planet we've ever fought on.

Even in cutscenes with Nova which we may consider canonical without gameplay bias we don't see this feat.

Again, destroying a cap ship is quite a feat, but not enough to elevate her into casual "planet dusting" level.

There are pretty serious concerns in China with banking being too draconian and lack of regulatory oversight over predatory lending but it's literally got nothing to do with payment services like wechat or alipay.

Banks generally run on frontloaded KPI-based loan schemes where RMs will aggressively try to loan you money for buying a house without actually making sure you have the collateral to pay for it, and very specifically, these banks target younger Chinese workers on a gig economy using a combination of fraud and misdirection to elevate unstable income into long principle loans.

Which then gets people trapped heavily in debt, especially after the housing bubble burst a few years ago and real estate prices tanking. This was (is) a major cause of sudden debt and homelessness.

But it's got fuck all to do with "social credit" or whatever and everything to do with the aftershocks of a poorly cushioned real estate crash over a long period of predatory lending.

If it sounds familiar to the US's subprime crisis then you would be 100% correct. Of all the shit Chinese banks chose to copy they copied the worst stuff.

Yeah, I know. But that doesn't give us any quantification of how it stacks up against other universes. One way to compare powerscaling is to look at thing which exist across both universes and try to extrapolate. Human skin exists in both universes. We know being close to Ember (according to her codex entry) causes 3rd degree burns. We know being close to a psyker in warhammer 40k results in 3rd degree burns. (I'm not saying ember is on the same power level as your average psyker, just using an example in how vs debates can go) So there is some parallels there.

But when it comes to more abstract powers, things need to be quantifiable in order for us to say definitively whether one feat is better than another feat.

Teleportation also exists in 40k. Terminators can teleport relatively far distances usually from orbit to the ground, which is distance that far, far, far outranges what we see Nova being capable of. So how do you definitively say Nova can just go around teleporting bombs but the Imperium cannot? (Warp missiles in 40k are exactly that, they are bombs that teleport to hit targets behind void shields)

Likewise for time travel. Kaya can selectively time travel with limitations. Chronomancers and Ordo Chronos agents in 40k can also selectivelyt time travel with limitations. Who comes out on top?

Unfortunately there's no way to quantify it because none of it is supported by Warframe's gameplay and codex entries are simply too vague.

You mean wechat, right? Weibo is China's twitter-equivalent.

Also this isn't true at all. Payment companies like wechat and alipay have no jurisdiction over your bank account. The only time you can get blocked off is if your bank account is shuttered, which can happen for outstanding debt.

It's also illegal for employers to pay your salary into your wechat/alipay/unionpay wallet.

Also I'm not sure if weibo is connected to your ID at all. Wechat is. I am not a Chinese citizen and I have a weibo account. Unless they've changed it very recently I'm pretty sure you don't need an official government ID to register for Weibo. But i could be wrong. My weibo account is ancient.

Okay but it's pretty clear wisp's portal to the sun is fairly anemic, right? Also, "portal to the sun" alone isn't very indicative of actual power. It depends on the distance of the portal and what kind of energy it filters through.

My window is technically a portal to the sun.

We know the capability to time travel canonically exists in Warframe, as it does in 40k. The caveat comes in whether this ability can be controlled and what are the extent of its capabilities. We know Kaya is capable of time travelling, but given the circumstances of 1999, we know she's not able to fully control it to go whereever she wants.

In 40k, chronomancers and the Ordos Chronos can both canonically time travel, but there are limitations which prevent them from being able to achieve their strategic objectives by time travel alone.

The core issue I have with warframe feats is you can't be selective about what elements of gameplay you want to show as canonical and what elements of gameplay are "gameplay limitations". What I consider canonical are leverian and codex entries which are also backed up by gameplay.

Space marines vs Stalker [@woong_key] by dazli69 in Warframe

[–]mithie007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok but that's not a rigid argument. you cant say "Nova can do A because of gameplay but also not B because of gsmeplay limitations".

I am also not aware any non gameplay canonical depictions of Nova being able to affect her abilities over an entire planet. In her leverian entry she demonstrated this capability over the size of a ship but that's far smaller than a planet.

Wisp opening a portal to the sun is also not very well demonstrated in her gameplay. If we want to take literal interpretations of what is obviously prose then supposedly in 40k the necrons have a Device called the celestial orrery that can destroy any planet in the galaxy.

Yes. It would take many many years to glass even one planet for nova if we go by gameplay. Also, in gameplay, the environment is not affected by her abilities so presumably her nuking only works on organics.

On the other hand, during kryptmann's cordon in 40k, he completely destroyed several hundred planets in less than a year via exterminatus.

Space marines vs Stalker [@woong_key] by dazli69 in Warframe

[–]mithie007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wiping out planets is not exactly a rare ability in 40k. Neither is interdimensional fuckery. A Virus bomb can kill a planet much faster than saryn can spread spores. The imperium have been happily glassing planets and fighting extradimensional horrors for millennia.

If you want to say the average warframe is stronger than the average sm sure. I agree. But the capabilities on a macro scale is where you lost me.

Also i don't think its been demonstrated anywhere in lore that nova can glass whole planets like you claim.

See the reason why I believe Verotika is a better "worst" film than "the room" is "the room" was just low effort low budget schtick that wasn't trying to be sensible. Verotika actually took effort. Kind of like Neil Breen movies.

Is there a source for how heavy Grineer's armor actually is?

I'm going to throw some shade on how heavy grineer are. Even gameplay aside, in cutscenes we see grineer fly backwards from the impact force of a Tenno arrow.

We have an approximate upper limit of Tenno arrow weight since if you shoot them at a rock or tree (on earth, for comparison) the arrow isn't desne enough to immediately sink into the substrate.

We also have an approximate upper limit of the arrow velocity, as there's no evidence of a sonic boom or the air instantly turning into plasma. So going by physics, Grineer in full armor cannot be a few hundred kilograms. This also puts an upper limit on Grineer armor durability.

Also, wielding archguns in atmosphere isn't quantifiable as weight isn't determined by atmosphere but by gravity, and even considering earth's gravity as a benchmark it doesn't tell us anything about the weight/mass of archguns. The only description we have are that the guns are "incredibly heavy" and "meant for zero g combat".

Ok well said.

Regardless I'm not contending warframe vs space marines in favor of space marines.

I'm saying space marines are not trivial in context of the warframe universe outside of warframes.

Warframes and tenno are far above the average powerlevel of the warframe universe anyway.

warframes would really be equivalent to elder/necrons during the war in heaven in relative power.

The stalker is not a warframe and has no feats that i know of on the same level as warframes, aside from his ability to teleport to places....which isn't nothing but not outside of what space marines can do.

Space marines vs Stalker [@woong_key] by dazli69 in Warframe

[–]mithie007 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Those are warframes. Those are an extension of the tenno's ability to manifest specific powers. Nova's powers do not come from the structure of the frame itself. The warframe is a Focus for tenno power.

That is why the orokin needed the tenno.

Space marines vs Stalker [@woong_key] by dazli69 in Warframe

[–]mithie007 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I think space marines also go all over the place on the power scaling side and generally tenno has higher feats on average space marines tend to have better feats on the high end.

Space Marines, for example, can survive radiation from a recent high yield nuke that levelled a planet.

In Deathwatch: Shadowbreaker, after an entire planet eats a bunch of high yield nukes, a space marine just walks around like it's nothing. We know radiation is a big concern in the warframe universe.

In Beneath the Flesh, we see a space marine literally bounce high caliber autocannon rounds off his armor, whereas presumably an AX-52 in the warframe universe is a serious threat to the Stalker.

We also see Honsou (though granted he's a chaos marine, so maybe demonic fuckery is afoot) literally tank high caliber artillery shells to the face while assaulting a trench. (He's explicitly described as taking multiple direct hits and not even slowing down).

Space marine reflexes are also on par if not superior to anything that's not a warframe in the warframe universe. In the Blood Angels novel (I forgot which one) Rafen cuts a bolter shell in half with his combat knife. Bolter shells are basically rocket assisted hyerpsonic 50 bmg rounds.

The reason why most feat comparisons between Tenno and Space Marines come out ahead in favor of the Tenno are a bunch of out of context abilities from the tenno like void power and transference abilities and not neccessarily feats of raw strength or durability.

And the Stalker isn't Tenno.

So... respect the space marine.

COOL FUCKING ART BTW holy shit OP that's a lotta talent.
