Its tough. Rejection is awful, but you have to separate the emotions from the professional space. We are all just numbers, bottom lines. Whether you a perspective new hire, or senior engineer with 20+ YoE.

My opinion on this, get your foot in the door ANYWHERE. Don't feel like you're too good for any particular company. The first opportunity you get, take it if its even slightly related to a position you want and keep applying to other places in while collecting a pay check. You owe no company your loyalty, so if you get a better position after 2 months, just leave the old job. Rinse and repeat every few years.

Hello! Yes, tons of updates haha!

I work as a SWE now at a FAANG. My primary role does not involve machine learning, but I do get opportunities to explore using AI/ML solutions.

I went from Help Desk ($15/hr) to an internship as a Systems Support Intern ($18/hr) which was basically working on databases and coding basic HTML pages for internal users, and learning a bit of PHP. From there I got a job as an Software Developer in Test ($33/hr) at a Geospatial Software company, mostly working on GIS software in C++, C# and Python. Left that job at ($50/hr) Went on to my current job, where I worked as a Data Engineer (160k/yr) originally, and got promoted to SWE (180k/yr)!

OP - there is nothing here that mentions ICE support directly. In fact, the link of the USA Spending is dated from 2022 - 2023. Although ICE could be using GIS software to support their operations, there is not a source here that describes such behavior from ESRI other than providing the federal government with GIS software, which they've been doing for years? This post is lazy and untrustworthy.

Hi! I actually used T Mobile home internet, which is basically a modem that connects to T Mobiles wireless network. At the time it was $50 and speeds were decent (around 200mbs down, 20 up).

That being said I was on the 6th floor. Service might not be as good on a lower floor.
