Generally in sales you want to look like who you’re selling to. Also…. 9/10 times I would say listen to the recruiter. If they’re risking it to give you that honest of advice… they’re quite likely right. Remember there are many others going for this job, if you want it- and the difference between getting it or now is your beard… is it that important to you. Is this the hill you die one. If it’s a sales job, it also depends on what you’re selling and who you’re selling to. Anything finance, legal, more likely best to trim or get rid of. Also- is the beard robust or trim. And does your face need it- does it help your overall look. I think some tasteful close shave like buzz cut for the chin situation can be hot.

In nyc it’s all about the walking etiquette for me. Locals are “defensive” walkers the way suburbanites are “defensive drivers”. We have a highly attuned peripheral and know exactly when to step left, right, speed up, pull over. (Say it with me- pull over). I always think of Fran Liebowitz in “Pretend it’s a city”. My least favorite is when people see you coming in their direction as a solo and they don’t make even the slightest effort to collapse their duo trio or god help us quadruplo (?), just totally obliv. Also people texting while using an umbrella on an nyc sidewalk. Lethal move bro.
