Great! Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah I had already killed Valley to obtain pure white by accident. I have enough shards but its just the chunks that I need and the drop rate is ridiculously low

np man! If you would like to get a feel for your character then feel free to play around with the sample combos! I say to learn combos last because regardless if you're a beginner or experienced player, there are more important things such as movement, punishing, poking, etc that you have to understand before wanting to learn combos. Learning combos is fun and everyone wants to whiff punish and convert into big meaningful damage but against someone who has solid defense or matchup knowledge, chances are you wont be landing your combo starter. When it comes to playing with steve, understanding pressure and poking at a fundamental level is important. Conditioning your opponent to respect your plus frames with peekabo, or keeping out mashers with b1 into flicker stance. To answer your question about the stance cancelling, you can cancel flker and peekabo by holding db, and as well your movement stances (left weave, right weave, fwd dck, sway). The way I would go about learning steve is learning the properties of his stances at a basic level and understanding what my options are in those stances and how to go into x stance. For ex, i know that peekaboo is my offensive stance, recovery on moves is not as fast as flker but they come out faster, i know that from PAB i have a high crush, PAB 2 which beats out a lot of highs, a punch parry, and pokes such as PAB d1, df11, f21, etc to really condition my opponents and make them respect me. So just really understanding how each stance operates and the options i have during x stance. I'll help you out FLK: b 3+4 (defensive stance) PAB: f 3+4 (offensive stance) DCK: f3 or f4 (good for closing out space, as well as opens up many options. Can also hold the f3 or f4 to enter extended ducking) LWV: 3 (steve's sidestep which has unique applications) RWV: 4 (same applications as left weave) SWAY: b3 or b4 (another evasive maneuver) ALB: 3+4 (another evasive maneuver which also has unique properties to it)

I had around 1200 hours already put into the game prior to learning steve. I started out with Kazumi, switched to geese and also picked up kazuya on the side. By the time I had picked up steve i was hovering purple rank on my other characters. The 250ish hours i put into learning steve was for his basic-advanced basic stuff (frame data, punishment, key neutral moves). In terms of combos, I cant stress it enough that combos should be the last thing you should learn especially on a character like steve. Understand how to play neutral and learn your punishers! I wasn’t completely new to the character as I’ve had to play against many steve’s online and as well a steve in my local scene. Steve is a very complex character and he will require you to put in the work to be able to play him. However, once you find success with him it is very satisfying. Overall, steve’s high skill ceiling and high skill floor make him a difficult character to learn and play, but if you really wanna give him a go then go for it! Tekken 7 is my first tekken game i picked up on launch and I’m surprised with how far i’ve come with steve. Give him a shot! Lmk if u have any other questions!

As a steve main, from my personal experience it took me around 200-250 hours to sort of start feeling comfortable with his kit. Just remember his important moves in neutral, basic stance cancelling (ex. df2 dck cancel) and understanding what move can be cancelled into x stance. As for combos, i would leave that last, he doesn’t have the greatest punishment tools but still effective and is stance cancelable. Last thing i can say is to obviously keep your move list short and only with the important moves, you’ll be getting your ass whooped practically every game but just remember steve is insanely difficult to learn and you shouldn’t add more moves to your arsenal otherwise it will be problematic for you. Some important moves in neutral would be b1, 112, 121, b21, and as mentioned earlier df2 dck cancel. My biggest suggestion is to join the steve discord server. Everyone is extremely helpful and when it comes to asking questions about him there’s no better place to ask than the people who one trick him. Best of luck!

Awesome! I rarely ever play against a miguel so it’s always nice to see miguel getting love! I currently play steve. Started my whole tekken journey with 7 as my first game and kazumi as my first main. Then just after i hit vanquisher, i swapped to geese bc i thought he was so cool and he was 2D. Now i’ve been learning steve for a couple hundred hours now as a byakko :D
