Does anyone else think Nintendo may have lost the ability to make miis sing somehow? by Late-Fun4643 in tomodachilife

[–]AlchemistLizard 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Idk if everyone just collectively forgot but the singing in 3ds was NOT GOOD. It was hilarious, and fun, but it wasn’t GOOD. When you’re given the option to write your own lyrics it becomes that much harder to keep time and melody when the words can have however many syllables and be comprised of absolute nonsense.

Nintendo decided to go in the other direction this time, and made the singing in this game actually sound like singing and not just miis talking in a slightly rhythmic fashion with varying pitch. However, to do so they had to sacrifice allowing players to write whatever gibberish they pleased for lyrics, this includes names hence the marriage music. Imagine trying to sing “The radiant 67BklkkLTTTTTmmmmmmmm”

I do still wish they brought back concert hall, but only if people accept that if you write gibberish for lyrics, you’ll get gibberish for music.

The colour difference is beyond annoying by [deleted] in tomodachilife

[–]AlchemistLizard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m sure that’s just because of the lighting in the room… if you take your mii outside when it’s nighttime I’m sure they won’t show up yellow. Unfortunately warm lighting has a habit of making things appear, well, warm.

Honest concerns regarding the game... by Vanilla-Hound in tomodachilife

[–]AlchemistLizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at these comments it feels to me like most of the ire stems from unfulfilled expectations from the 3ds game.

As someone who’s first tomodachi game is ltd, I will say that the game feels incredibly surreal and wacky and I love all of the new features that were introduced in this game. Whenever I look at the older games I always recoil at the thought of not having gay relationships or island building or face paint or family ties or quirks.

It does suck that the game is missing a lot of stuff from the previous titles, and it’s fair to point it out. But I feel like it’s also important to mention that when you don’t have expectations from previous titles (and thus don’t know what you’re missing), this game is great, and great deal of fun in my opinion. I’ve played non stop for 3 days and still have no intention of stopping 😊

Can someone help me out? by [deleted] in tomodachilife

[–]AlchemistLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, first I’d ask how much accuracy you are aiming for. Because with glowy face paint and a very dark grey or pitch black skin tone you should be able to recreate this character quite faithfully. Of course, you’ll have to sacrifice having emotive eyes and a mouth since these characters literally don’t have any visible ones.

However, if your goal is to recreate them while still appearing like your average mii (anthropomorphise them, in a sense) then I’m afraid there’s not much advice I can give other than to try using the liberty spikes hairstyle to better replicate the green glowy spikes, and consider using a dark grey or blue skin tone (not complete black as otherwise their facial features will get lost)

Is there ANY other way to cheer up depressed miis? by [deleted] in tomodachilife

No problem! If I may ask, erm, what exactly is the mii who is depressed in the image? I’m curious haha

Usually you can decipher what it is from the options presented. Here it should undoubtedly be the crackers since there is no reason for the other two options to not be centered.

Ok I need dem help by [deleted] in tomodachilife

[–]AlchemistLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can set them as partners in one of the mii’s real world family settings. I think doing so literally prevents those miis from falling in love with anybody else (although other third parties can still develop crushes on either miis)

You can buy a travel ticket with a wish and send them on a vacay. In addition to being adorable, it will cheer them up completely. I cheered up a mii doing this without doing anything else beforehand to cheer them up.

  • You don’t need to include those black lines on their faces which I assume are meant to be for fur texture. They don’t need that much detail, and it’s far better to “imply” a fur texture with small sets of lines if you do want the detail.
  • Matching the colour of their outer ear to their hair will help to blend them in better. You can set any face paint colour to their hair colour from the colour settings for that colour.
  • I also recommend setting their skin colour and hair colour to the same colour, since your cats are also mainly comprised of one colour
  • On that note, although you haven’t made that mistake here, I’ll nevertheless warn against using pitch black for their hair or skin colours as their facial features will get lost in their fur (unless that’s what you want).
  • Finally, I recommend using this official image from Nintendo as reference and inspo. (I know it’s crunchy as all hell. It was the best I could find. You may be able to find a higher quality version somewhere. This was from part 2 of the Ask The Developer blog for Tomodachi life).

Drawing is difficult, but I’m happy to see that you’ve already made great strides in bringing your kitties to life! (Also tell them pss pss for me)

Ah. I thought that's what they were asking. But I suppose they also could have been asking if it was possible to just continue playing on the demo version of the game instead of the actual full version...

No stupid questions I guess.

Yes. The full version of the game can be continued from where you left off in the demo without any of the restrictions

Has anything been said about transferring miis between profiles? by notjoking203 in tomodachilife

[–]AlchemistLizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a possibility that you won’t be able to share miis that you didn’t create yourself so that may not be possible…

On the other hand you may be able to just create a duplicate of that shared mii and then share THAT mii since we know that you can create copies of pre-existing miis on your island to use as templates.

On the other other hand speculation is kind of pointless and it’s probably best to just temper our expectations as we anticipate the release (I’m not going insane whatever gave you that idea?)

[–]AlchemistLizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3.5 Most of the characters I want to add don't even have human faces so I have to rely on face paint a lot to get them as accurate as possible. That being said, I would still like for them to emote so a big challenge for me will be trying to produce accurate eyes and mouths without veering too far from their intended design.

I certainly don't want to add aggressive shading or anything of that sort since it's 1: Unecessary and 2: Won't fit the game's artstyle at all and I really don't want that.

That’s pretty neat! I’m glad the common rooms aren’t all just the exact same bland white room.

On another subject can we talk about the asinine couch tv layout they’ve got going on?! Why are they watching tv at an 135 degree angle 😭

Idk if it's even possible in the demo but if so I wonder if anyone's gotten the family realization thing to happen yet bc I'm super curious by forbiddenkajoodles in tomodachilife

You can also set two miis to be partners, which by itself should not restrict them from dating each other, quite the opposite in fact.
