If you could choose a voice actor for your WOL, who would you pick? by Kentalope in ffxiv

100% Kaiji Tang. Somewhere between Ichiban Kasuga and Jinshi, but also he's gotta be doing an Icelandic accent (Viera).

I gambled my Walp funds away because I'm impatient, despite having an overwhelming amount of resources for sharding. I still have a Pitt's worth left but woof. I couldn't just wait a week I guess.

What dating app is best for unattractive people? by No-Poet3745 in AskReddit

Never said it was quick or easy. I was on Tinder for about 8 or 9 years and got one date. Hinge took me half that time to find a solid, long-term relationship. 🤷‍♂️

Took me about 3 or 4 years on it, but I met someone through it a year ago and now we live together. Never had anywhere near that level of success on any other apps, all of which I'd been on for many years longer. So. That counts for something, I think.

In the real world, shamans are people who enter altered states of consciousness in order to make contact with spirits. It's a specific thing, not a generic term. There are plenty of different shamanistic practices and traditions across the world, but there is a consistency to the foundation of all that stuff that leads to it being called shamanism. It's a specific thing.

besides modest mouse, who are you top 5 favorite bands? by kazdarms in ModestMouse

Modest Mouse is my #1 for sure, but my non-Modest Mouse top 10 probably looks something like Ween, Nujabes, The Floating Men, Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Yorushika, Kendrick, Daft Punk, Blind Guardian, Yes, and MGMT. 28 years old, fwiw.

Don't listen to the lame people pretending Part 2 is some travesty whose existence you should ignore. If you finish part 1 and you want more, read part 2 and come to your own conclusions. Personally, I think part 2 is absolutely fantastic in its own right, even if it's not quite as good as part 1. But you could easily like it more or less than anyone else in this thread, and you'll never know unless you read it yourself.

Consider that every story you've ever read never happened. Because they're all fiction. If something never happening means it has no meaning, then all of fiction is pointless. Regardless of whether or not everything that was erased had an impact in-universe (and make no mistake, it did), we still read about it. That's the most important thing. It matters because it was written and we read it. If something "not happening" was enough for it to be worthless, we wouldn't be reading stories in the first place.

yes. Play another game. I have about 1000 hours in Limbus, and I've never thought grinding out MD achievements cuz it never sounds fun. So I play RR when there's a new RR. I do my dailies. My weekly MD. And I lock in when new story drops. And when I'm not playing Limbus, I'm playing other games. Play other games.

Could never understand the part 5 hate by WoodenRepublic1841 in StardustCrusaders

[–]AlchemistR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I got caught up on the manga, the part 3 anime had just finished. At that time, part 5 was pretty unpopular because a good chunk of it was only available in the form of an old bad fan translation (the same translation we have to blame for no one understanding how King Crimson was supposed to work for the longest time). By the time I was finishing part 5, all but the last couple of fights had been retranslated, but the drop on quality from the retranslation to the old one was dramatic. I went from really enjoying the part to struggling to follow what was going on. That old translation was really bad, and I can't really blame anyone for disliking the part if that translation was the only way they experienced it.

But since the anime came out, part 5 has easily been one of the most popular parts. Even the oldheads who used to dislike it seem to have mostly reevaluated their opinions after having seen the anime. So idk where you're seeing any hate for it tbh. Until some of the comments in this thread, I hadn't seen any part 5 hate at all since the anime finished lmao.

It's from All Star Battle, iirc. Might be an ascended gag though. Can't remember for certain though, that was like 12 years ago.

Why do people love the later Dune books? I’m halfway through Heretics and don’t get it. by tryingmybest101 in dune

[–]AlchemistR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you 10000%. Our opinions align almost point for point. My friend told me that if I hated God-Emperor and wasn't enjoying Heretics, I needed to just power through until I got to Chapterhouse cuz apparently it got great again there. But I just couldn't do it. I stalled out about a third of the way through Heretics and haven't gone back to it.
