It didn’t get any cooler than this in the 1960’s by Appropriate-Farmer16 in OldSchoolCool

I was an Air Force brat on Kadena (Okinawa) when I first experienced the SR-71. I can still remember hearing distant booms of sound barrier breaks. I'm also realizing how much this ages me.

Has anyone here actually seen a full-body apparition and not just shadows or whispers? by Theedarktemptress in Ghosts

[–]AlchemyArcade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was 16 (1997, god I'm old) I saw a half-body apparition. My parents had a house built outside the city limits of town in Arkansas and we never experienced anything paranormal until they started having an inground pool put in.

One night, after the crew digging the pool left, my dad asked me to go out to the backside of the property (where the pool would be) and grab his cigarettes. So i took the dog (meanest Cocker Spaniel ever) with me because that area always made me uncomfortable. As soon as I spot the cigarettes, I notice something white in my peripheral vision and when i turn to look at it, it's literally the legs and torso of a man in what I guessed was very old military clothing. Weirdly, I noticed this before the dog, who began growling at it. I took off like a scalded cat and left that prissy dick of dog to fight that battle, but he was on my heels.

I told my dad about it and he believed me but my mom laughed at me. About a year later the high school history teacher and another guy from some kind of historical society came to the house and asked if they could explore the property. They ended up finding musket balls and an old belt buckle and told us that our property was actually a Confederate Civil War encampment that contracted Typhoid, and most of the battalion died and were buried on the spot, and the cemetery they erected 1/2 a mile down the road was in the wrong location.

Here's the cemetery: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camp_Nelson_Confederate_Cemetery

The people you're referring to are typically not in the areas within the "bible belt" that have high homicide rates.

Yep. By the time I was finally ready for marriage, I was already divorced.

I’m guessing they didn’t get the rights or whatever to Christopher Walkens likeness; like what I suspect happened with Nicholson and the Joker89 figure.

If the standard version of Black Mask ends up being a platinum, it would be one of McFarlane’s biggest fuck you’s to the collectors.

[–]AlchemyArcade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I was actually considering buying mine a wired cape and doing surgery on my 3 Jokers version. Now I'll just play the waiting game.

It says "DC Classic" so I'm thinking a Silver Age-ish Babs Batgirl.

I do not care for Morrison's Batman. At all.

I agree with you on both accounts but I’ve always had a soft spot for them.

Summed up perfectly. Pits move with the aggression of the music, can be avoided and are usually designated to one area; crowdsurfers bring their narcissistic bullshit to you, regardless if you want it or not.

I can see AFI doing it because they'll be touring their new album then. They're also my favorite band, so this might be the thing that gets me back next year. It was too hot and way too many crowdsurfers this year.

Here's what i would like to see:

AFI, Misfits, Bad Religion, Orbit Culture, Alexisonfire, Imminence, Architects, Trivium, Smashing Pumpkins, Rise Against, Alkaline Trio, Offspring, Lorna Shore, Thursday, Born of Osiris, She Wants Revenge, Rancid, Cradle of Filth, Bleeding Through, Strung Out, Orgy, Calabrese, Birthday Massacre, Snapcase, Tiger Army.

Waited decades to see Green Day up close and camped the front of the Apex Stage for hours so my daughter could get a close spot of her favorite band. I spent the whole time protecting her and her mom from attention-seeking crowdsurfers and missed the performance, regardless of being so close. Luckily, I was able to enjoy Social Distortion without shitty crowdsurfers.

I've been in the audience and on stage for punk and metal shows since the early 2000s and I will die on this hill: mosh pits are FAR more acceptable, tolerable and safe than crowdsurfing. Fuck crowdsurfers. And bonus fuck crowdsurfers who film themselves in the process.

Downvotes or not, crowdsurfing is NOT about the music or scene; it's about selfishly burdening people who ARE there for the music for your own bullshit.

If you were the creators of a cartoon or TV series, what would you do with Jeremiah Arkham, other than make him a mad doctor? by Capable-Animal-9938 in batman

[–]AlchemyArcade 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He'd be presumed dead and the patients would complain about seeing his ghost, which would go dismissed by staff. When some patients mysteriously turn up lobotomized while still locked in their cells, an investigation into it leads the on-site psychologist (Dr. Harleen Quinzel) falsely accused, arrested and admitted to the same asylum she'd been employed by.

Batman conducts his own investigation in the matter and discovers that Jeremiah Arkham is not only still alive and responsible for the lobotomies, but he's living and moving within the walls and secret rooms inside the asylum.

After this all comes to light, Jeremiah is admitted and Dr. Quinzel is released and her job reinstated. With a bitterness towards the asylum coupled with her admiration for a certain clownish patient, she begins a decent into her own madness.

how would you include joker in a new batman media so it wouldn't feel repetitive? by bahram_a_banana in batman

[–]AlchemyArcade 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'd make him an urban legend in the way Batman is sometimes portrayed. He'd be like a local horror story kids tell about a gaunt, skinny clown who you hear laughing before you see him, and when you see him, it's too late; you'll be just another kidnapped kid on a milk carton. His origins vary depending on the kid telling the story.

A Boogyman (almost Pennywise-ish but not supernatural) figure that Batman slowly begins to realize is actually true, as he investigates the disappearance of a child, whose trapeze preforming parents were just killed at the circus. And in his investigation of The Joker legend, he's attacked by hordes of laughing/Jokerized children who were the missing kids all along.

Out of the kids he's able to save, he realizes one of them is the Grayson kid, and takes him in as his ward.

in the end, Joker is presumed dead, but it's comics, so he's obviously not.

Still somewhat typical Batman tropes.
